If you love the game, do it. I officiated basketball and football for years. Loved it. Quit when my kids were old enough to play sports because I didn't want to miss seeing them play. Highly recommend it. Take it serious and know the rules. You won't be doing it for the money.

This and sorority flag football. Help the ladies reattach the flag. Call penalties often. My personal favorite is "excessive jiggling"

Try to officiate only games where you have a vested interest in one of teams, call phantom penalties on the other team and always fist pump when your team scores. Follow up the next week by trolling the other team's fan forums.
