You don't know what you are talking about. That old wives tale is pure bs. Sumlin should be on his knees every night for the talent Sherman left him.Epicaggie said:
We already have the man that created Sherman's oline, what more could Sherman offer us? He had to be convinced to offer Johnny and wanted him to play slot receiver...

Epicaggie said:Right because Sherman didn't have a history of playing superior QB's at receiver while starting the guy that had more seniority. Also, lets allow Sherman to give more "we're fine without taking any defensive ends" approach that killed our depth and 2013 season after Damontre left. There is a reason he doesn't coach anymore: the game passed him by.cedar said:You don't know what you are talking about. That old wives tale is pure bs. Why stop with Sherman?
Let's hire RC as Defensive Coordinator, Kliff as Offensive Coordinator, Jackie as HC, keep Sumlin as Head Recruiter, and Fran as Director of Spirit Programs.

I know right?! They should have let him continue working knowing good and well he was gone. Fire him as soon as he returned after a long week of being on the road.

JJ had earned the right to start. Worked itself out eventually.
Tanny played WR because of zero WR depth at the time. He was athletic, a big target, and had brains. Big balls on Sherm's part to play his #2 QB at WR. Speaks to how thin he was at the position.
The DE thing was because Sherm/DeRuyter were running a 3-4, which uses different bodies in the front 7. So yeah, when Summy/Snyder went to a 4-3 Under, they didn't have a lot of your typical 4-3 DE's by the time 2013 rolled around. Plus DeMontre left early. Not sure that was expected, and it certainly stung.
And Sumlin did NOT inherit a roster full of depth. Had some talented guys in some spots across the 1-deep. But the 2-deep? 3-deep? Not even close.
Yeah, we had some 1st round draft picks. But not many total picks. In the best year, we had 3 drafted.
The guys we're trying to beat are having 8 to 10 drafted, and they do it EVERY year.
We're still not loaded. Not like the guys we're trying to beat.

Sheeeit, I'd let him run his own offense for the first half of each game.
Then escort him out of the stadium before kicking off the second half.

And let summy coach the first five or six games, then bring in a closer to finish the season.

How many 1st round picks does MSU have this year? What about OM?
Just curious.
