Does any ag have any more info on the highway they're building from college station that runs through tomball and ends up in Houston. Should be about 25 minutes faster.

Does it run both ways?

It's not a new highway. It will connect SH249 to SH105 east of Navasota and cut through a bunch of beautiful land that will eventually get developed and no longer be beautiful.

Where is this beautiful land outside of the hill country you speak of?

Perhaps, but much of the beautiful land has been lying fallow for > 75 years.

It isn't lying fallow. It is cattle, timber, and deer leases.

I live in Boerne and love the hill country, but growing up in southern Grimes County I have to agree that it is a beautiful landscape. Not a lot of people travel south of SH 105 and east of SH 6 in the White Hall, Yarboro and Stoneham areas to appreciate what the landowners have there, but they will see it in a few years at 45 mph on the free frontage roads or 75 on the toll road.

Bcs is too far to ever be a suburb of Houston. But if you can cut down the travel time between the two, it will open economic opportunities for bcs. Win-win really.

I was at a Tomball Chamber of Commerce event last month and the president said it's a done deal and will go through Grimes.

That's great news, to be honest. It would be sad if BCS became a suburb of Houston. You'd see the local flavor disappear. Vernacular architecture replaced by strip malls and generic suburban housing. Local restaurants replaced by chains. Unique shops replaced by Target, Wal-Mart, and a Mall. The place would be unrecognizable.

It appears you are correct. Despite overwhelming oppositon at the last public meeting, it was approved: http://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/projects/studies/bryan/sh249.html

Construction starts in 2017

There's a difference between "vocal" opposition and "overwhelming" opposition. If you held a public hearing in Grimes County on the virtues of ice cream, people would turn out to speak against ice cream.
