Man, those really were the golden years. Back when we had awesome linebackers.

Just think how different our D would be with Buckley and that other guy they had at the time.

Oh, yeah. That 1991 version of the Wrecking Crew was downright nasty. Buckley, Coryatt, Solari, Wheeler, Adams, Bates, Frazier, Smith ... we'd probably be undefeated this season with that defense.

Coryatte. Probably the best linebacker A&M has ever had. Those were the days.

Man, I miss the Wrecking Crew. Here is to hoping that Chavis can get us back there. Just need the recruits. You can have the best coaching. But if you don't have the dogs, then you cannot hunt the big game.

I saw the hit while stationed as a U.S. Army armor officer in Aschaffenburg, Germany, in November 1991. The Hit, at about 4 a.m., was amazing...

Happy birthday!

No, you can't have my "The Hit" replica painting/copy, signed by the man himself!

I'll give you a snazzy blue star though

DeMarcus Coryley would be ejected in today's game and TexAgs would melt down over R.C's crappy coaching of his players.

Aggie, is that you. Are you still coaching in East Texas?

That was back when you were allowed to play football and parents didn't name their boys Aiden, Brayden, Cayden, etc

I was also at that game and it was very cold and lots of fun. That defense was bad ass.

I was not at the game but judging from the video it had to have been very cold.

It was beyond very cold. Those dang aluminum seats were painful to sit on.

I like (perhaps because my wife is a Horned Frog) that this play is still such an iconic play 25 years later ...

I remember quite clearly watching that game on tv. I seriously thought that player was dead.

I went from excitement over the massive hit to "I think he broke his f-ing neck" pretty quickly.

Maybe I'm just spoiled, but I forgot about glorious hits we laid in 1997 by 1999. Is your lack of defense that grating that your only good memories of defense are from the wrecking crew days? Kinda like how my memories of an LSU offense are from 2001? lol

I'm not sure that the greatest hit in the history of Texas A&M football is one where a 6'3" 230 lb linebacker hits a 5'10" 175 lb receiver in the face who is looking back for a pass.

Did we run some sort of belly-bum, fumbleruski play in that game?

Did you know that the fumbleruski and the bumaruski are two different plays and Bum only invented one of those.

The hit by Buckley (Coryatt) was nice, but my personal favorite was always the massive hit that another one of our great linebackers, John Roper, put on poor ol' LSU QB, Tommy Hodson, back in 1988. Roper was an absolute monster of an OLB. During his sack of Hodson, Roper damn near drove Hodson right through the turf at Kyle. Roper broke his face mask on the play and, we he got up, blood was pouring down his face. I wish that I could find the video. Pure, old school, Wrecking Crew brutality from one of the best Aggie defenders of all time.

Chief should find that old game film and show it to all the current linebackers.

Coldest I've ever been in my life. Me and a neighbor just got a wild hare and decided to drive up to Forth Worth mid afternoon on the day of the game. I left Aggieland in jeans and a t-shirt, and it was about 65 degrees. When the game started the wind chill was in the teens.

That was freaking miserable.

And I loved every minute of it!
