An email from Sydni Lee '05 from Corpus Christi represents the kind of spirit that helps us all push through the hard times and keep our focus on what this last game stands for. She and a group of friends and schoolmates are reviving something they call the Torch Run that started in 1970. The residents of Walton Hall used to run a torch from Memorial Stadium in Austin to Kyle Field, she says, and it was used to light Bonfire. This group wanted the team to know "we support them 100 percent and this Torch Run is for them...." They'll run on Thanksgiving Day and return in time for Yell Practice
Ok who where has been on a Walton Hall torch run?
<raises hand>
Allow me to list the actual festivities:
1) Beer
2) A solid hour of actually running the torch while drunk
3) Beer
4) Jail
5) Beer
6) Attempts to cut down trees on t.u.'s campus; also see 4)
7) Beer
8) A word that rhymes with Raising
9) Beer
10) Did I mention beer?
Oh yes, and it was the Aggie Spirit and all that. That torch was used to light bonfire. It was supposedly lit by the "eternal flame" monument near DKR. Try and find that sometime.
