...been any player to have fallen down as far as Johnny has and earned their playing career back through sobriety?

Nah. He was smart enough to fall after the Angels gave him a truck full of cash....

Josh Hamilton is the right answer. #1 overall by the Rays. Total burnout. Total stud with Texas. Story should've ended there.
quote:fixed it for you. I'd say it has to be pretty rare. A lot of NFL types were skeptical about Manziel ever being that good to begin with due to his size and unorthodox playing style. We are not talking about a guy who at least showed something in the NFL for a couple of seasons and then fell off the wagon. We are talking about a guy who had a lot of doubters to begin with and then crashed and burned right out the gate.
...been any player who had yet to prove himself or show much success at the NFL level, then to have fallen down as far as Johnny has and earned their playing career back through sobriety?

Whether Johnny ever plays another football game or not is irrelevant, He is young and can still make something of himself. He just needs to sober up and realize that life is precious and shouldn't be wasted. He could probably learn a few things from this guy.

Why should we decide if Johnny is wasting his life? He's not hurting you (other than your pride when the "fellas" give you **** about it at the ol' water cooler).
Johnny is just fine. He's doing Johnny. You just worry about doing you.
quote:Actually, Dwight Gooden was a pitcher but I get your point.
The problem for JFF is he plays QB which is the leader of the team and face of the franchise......that's an infinitely steeper hill to climb vs these outfielder examples. Also, JFF never proved to be worthy in the NFL so that's something else that will hold him down. His only shot at the NFL at this point is going 100% clean and praying he gets a shot at Arena or Canadian league and just kills it over the next few yrs and then gets a 3rd team qb opportunity in the NFL and there are a bunch of injuries.....then he will play in the NFL.....but that's 3-5 yrs away

Is there a worst representative of the Heisman than Johnny?
