Josh Hamilton is the right answer. #1 overall by the Rays. Total burnout. Total stud with Texas. Story should've ended there.

Whether Johnny ever plays another football game or not is irrelevant, He is young and can still make something of himself. He just needs to sober up and realize that life is precious and shouldn't be wasted. He could probably learn a few things from this guy.

Yep. #1 to less than nothing and earned his way back in. His story really was incredible. And still is. Every addict should read it because even his relapse in LA is a learning experience. shows that you aren't invincible, and a solid support team is way more important than other **** (like a bigger paycheck to stroke your ego)

Being sober is just one issue he has to deal with in working towards playing in the NFL. The others:

1) playing like pro QB on the field
2) behaving like a pro QB in the locker room and front office
3) behaving like a pro everywhere else
4) the clock - he's 23, and has been constantly partying for the last 7-8 years.

One of Johnny's problems is the people that are hanging on with him. None of them care about him, just about his money and how much they can partake of. Same thing happened to Vince. When all the money ran out... so did they. They're just like leeches as long as there is a party going on at his expense. None of them is his friend. There were a few sports figures that I think wanted to help him but he distanced himself from them early on cause he didnt want to hear it. But there are people out there that would help if he would let them. And true friends who dont need the party or his money.

John Lucas. NBA career ended due to substance abuse. He went to rehab and eventually became a head coach for many teams. And earlier this week, he was hired as the Director of Player Development for the Rockets

Tony Mandarich, while still considered an unbelievable bust, had his issues with drugs, was out of football for 3 years, and then returned to start a full season for the Colts.

Johnny looks more like a Marinovich than a Mandarich though. At this point he'll be lucky to be a Marinovich.

fixed it for you. I'd say it has to be pretty rare. A lot of NFL types were skeptical about Manziel ever being that good to begin with due to his size and unorthodox playing style. We are not talking about a guy who at least showed something in the NFL for a couple of seasons and then fell off the wagon. We are talking about a guy who had a lot of doubters to begin with and then crashed and burned right out the gate.

Why should we decide if Johnny is wasting his life? He's not hurting you (other than your pride when the "fellas" give you **** about it at the ol' water cooler).

Johnny is just fine. He's doing Johnny. You just worry about doing you.

If I recalled...Johnny is a football player by nature and will try and play again IFF he gains sobriety. I was presenting a question and was looking for an answer. Sobriety is clearly the given desire from all of us...thank you for filling my mouth and the others with words.

At least your video was motivational to help save your post. So thumbs up to that.

Baseball is different. Your team doesn't ride or die with one guy. In the NFL, you can have 21 studs and a QB can eff your season. It's hard to believe anyone will trust him again. Maybe if he pays his dues in the CFL for 2 years keeping his nose clean. That's about the only shot he has.

Dwight Gooden, Darryl Strawberry- New York Yankees. Forget the year. After a steep drug downslide after winning the World Series with the Mets they both had come back years with the Yankees.

Difference is, they were good in the first place- not total busts out of the starting block.

The problem for JFF is he plays QB which is the leader of the team and face of the franchise......that's an infinitely steeper hill to climb vs these outfielder examples. Also, JFF never proved to be worthy in the NFL so that's something else that will hold him down. His only shot at the NFL at this point is going 100% clean and praying he gets a shot at Arena or Canadian league and just kills it over the next few yrs and then gets a 3rd team qb opportunity in the NFL and there are a bunch of injuries.....then he will play in the NFL.....but that's 3-5 yrs away

Actually, Dwight Gooden was a pitcher but I get your point.

Johnny is DONE.

You can bet the house on it.

I am throwing away all the magazines I bought of him on the cover. I don't want my kids to know I once respected him as a player and a person. I remember watching a video of Rivals interviewing him after a game at Tivy. He spoke about how going to A&M was important to him and he wanted to be in a Christian environment because his faith was important to him and he wanted to make an impact.

You take a look on his Instagram..and his posts don't even make sense. The self-indulgent ones that do are so far fetched it hard to believe that this guy once graced the stage as a Heisman winner...let alone had a heart that was directed beyond himself.

I'm excited to have quality leadership on our football team moving forward. I'm looking forward to celebrating those guys.
