Is he the first NFL player to be suspended without failing a drug test?

quote:Well, clowney was a number one pick who appears will never be healthy, a thing many people predicted at the time. Don't think Johnny was #2 on Houston's list that year. Clowney is just a way larger sunk cost. Johnny was the Brown's best selling jersey riding the bench.
I'd say Houston dogged a bullet, but what was Clowney done? But at least Clowney doesn't seem to be a train wreck.

Johnny is the Justin Bieber of football, too bad we can't blame him on Canada

He did fail a test and if it's 4 games it means he's failed multiple tests.......
Now the question I have (and it's really irrelevant, but more curiosity)-----if he's not signed to a team, do they start counting the games? Ex. if he finally signs with someone in week 10-----does have have to sit out 4 games and can come back week 15, or will he have effectively already "sat out" the first 4 games of the season and can play regardless of being signed or not week 5? It's irrelevant b/c he aint playing anywhere next year, but more curious how the NFL rule works.

He is still bound to abide by a contact after he is released?

Manziel's football career is done. He is just a reality show celebrity now, and even that will fade soon.

Maybe. Maybe not.
The Arena Football League is recruiting him.
If he cleans up his act and plays there for a couple of years, a NFL team could take a chance on him down the road. His issue is not ability. It's substance abuse.
People said Richie Igcognito's career was over a couple of years ago. Yet, he made the most recent NFL Top 100.
