Agreed but doesn't hurt to have someone that can sling it occasionally. LSU has struggled throwing it without good QB. Defense and strong Running game with Keith Ford and Company would be great. Doubt there is a run first offense any time soon but I have confidence with another improved defense coming this year.

Nick Marshall was a stud. He ran that Auburn system to perfection. And Jake Coker got better as the season progressed. He made some nice scrambles and some good throws in big games. Jefferson wasn't great, but their D was insane and enough to make up for it.

Alabama has good quarterbacks. LSU doesn't.

What? Alabama has serviceable QBs at best.

None of those guys ever amount to anything. It's easy to manage a game when you have an OL full of 4-5* talent, 5* WRs/TEs, and 5* RBs.

Yeah, Auburn would have won that national title with or without Cam Newton!!!

...Our offensive system will go with our QB as long as Sumlin is here as our system is dependent on good QB play.

Manziel was probably one of the greatest offensive players in Texas A&M football history. His contribution to the 2012 team resulted in a tie for fifth place in the SEC. I think you just answered your own question.

What? Alabama has serviceable QBs at best.

None of those guys ever amount to anything. It's easy to manage a game when you have an OL full of 4-5* talent, 5* WRs/TEs, and 5* RBs.
Alabama doesn't always ask their quarterbacks to throw the ball 40 times a game, but when they do throw it, they've always done it very well.

High completion %, throw it well downfield as well as the shorter throws, and take care of the football.

Looking back at A.J. McCarron's career makes me want to vomit having had to watch A&M's recent quarterbacking...

66.9% completion percentage for over 9,000 yards, just 15 interceptions vs. 77 touchdowns, and a 162.5 rating.

2012: Guy led the nation in yards/attempt and quarterback rating, throwing 30 touchdowns vs. 3 interceptions.


Before that, McIlroy did the same thing.
