How long do you want to ignore this user?
how many seats were really empty on the east side third deck? (I was unable to come to the game Saturday)

I heard people complaining, but I just wanted an actual answer - and NOT an OVER-EXAGGERATED answer - about how many seats/sections were really empty.

Thanks!

truthfully, there was only 7 students on 3rd deck and they were shirtless with their chests painted to spell "U-N-C-O-V-E-R".
worthless new army sissies.

If you know how many rows in a section and seats in a row, you can do the math. There were at least 3 sections worth of seats completely empty. I don't know what type of calculation to throw in for the spread-out effect (what was 10 people would have been 15 if every seat sold??) that happens when the bleacher seats aren't packed.

why do you care? I mean does it give you some satisfaction to know that there were lots of empty seats at the game? The aggies that were there truly supported the team and to tell you the truth I think the place was just as loud as it has been all season. Fact being that the students that were not there dont yell anyways.

I read some stat in the chronicle that the attendance hadn't been that low since 1993 I think... it was the first time to be under 70,000 in a long time... kinda dissapointing

It was under 70,000 for all of 1998. Of course, the Zone was the reason. It was disappointing seeing that many empty seats in the Zone and east side 3rd deck. However, please note that I used the word "seeing", meaning first person. Haven't missed one in years and don't plan to! Don't renew your season tickets so that next year I get great seats!

um, i was 2 sections from the edge of third deck and in about every section there were at least 15 rows full, ours probably had 20ish full with some scattered above that. id say there was about the equivalent of 3-4 sections missing if you counted the spottiness. That would be about 2000-2300...

It would probably be more in the neighborhood of 5000 missing. It was the smallest crowd I've ever seen on 3rd deck.

In 97, only the horn game drew over 70K (75,000). The Baylor game drew 60-something, the rest, including the season opener at Kyle against SHSU drew in the 50s.

Many seem to have forgotten how many empty seats were regularly at Kyle only a few years ago.

I remember games before when they would put the ROTC kids in the corners of the third deck. I also remember games when the ends of the first deck were not full on both sides--just not in the last five years. I would say the equivalent of 4 and a half empty sections, except that people really spread out since they had room.
