Meh, he's definitely the best guy they could get...But its a crap position. The SA express news reported that the university is honoring the contracts for all of cokers staff. So he can't really coach his own team. Good for him for getting some head coaching so early on his resume.

Played K-State this past year.

South central texas a big footprint. They get the right coach and win a few games and they could make a ding into recruiting down the road. big whatif though.

And they have also played 'Zona twice I believe.

UTSA is a D-I team, believe it or not, who has played Arizona twice, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, New Mexico, Houston and Colorado State in non-conferences games. The Roadrunners are 22-26 in their 4 years of existence. UTSA has recorded wins over UTEP, New Mexico, Houston, Tulsa, New Mexico State and Southern Miss. In 2014, they only lost to Arizona by only 3 points...Arizona was pretty good and went 10-4 that season.

UTSA is already a much better program than Texas State.

The big problem is that it's UTSA. They have almost zero facilities, traffic is a nightmare, the athletic fields are away from campus, and most of the school is commuters. On the plus side, they have a zoo nearby called Fiesta Texas.

Ags win because it will be next year and next year is always better.

UTSA announced Sunday that five of six remaining assistant coaches on the football staff have been released.

The move came in the wake of Friday's announcement that former LSU assistant Frank Wilson has been hired as the new head coach of the Roadrunners.

A spokesman confirmed in a text that Eric Roark, Charlie Reeve, Mike Markuson, Polo Gutierrez and Jeff Popovich will not be retained.

Receivers coach Tony Jeffery is the only assistant remaining from the staff of former coach Larry Coker, who stepped down Jan. 5.

Roark, hired in April 2009, coached the defensive line. He said in a statement Saturday night that he is moving on.

"I leave with nothing but great memories of my tenure at UTSA," Roark said in a text Saturday night.

"The important thing is God's will and not the circumstances that I presently am in. Life is not for us to figure out. Life is for us to trust and believe in Him always."

Others not retained included Reeve (tight ends), Markuson (offensive line), Gutierrez (running backs) and Popovich (cornerbacks).

With you on everything but the traffic (besides, I don't think traffic is a limiting factor for most typical universities, much less a football program).

SA traffic is not bad compared to most large cities... Road system is well designed and has been kept up with the times for the most part. To make my point, I only need to bring up mopac or 35 through the people's republic of Austin.
