He'll get another HC offer somewhere.

He could never "get over the hump" but he's had awful luck with injuries to his star players the last few years and then in 2012, he needed about 10 more seconds to score the game winning TD against Bama, win the SEC, and advance to the NC game to beat a pathetic ND team.

To win a national title, you need a great team and luck. He's had several great teams, but the luck part never went his way.

He'd be a great OC if he's seriously considering it, but I don't think his style of offense jives with what Sumlin thinks an offense should be. (Shame, because I prefer the Richt style)

This team needs any identity because we do not have one. Not sure what style Sumlin runs. Richts style will be good. Maybe this is the huge name....

I would rather have the Richt style then the Sumlin style

Interesting he says he'd like to get back to coaching QBs and calling plays. That spells coordinator, to me.

He's a class act. We could do much worse.

Always possible, but I think there is precedent for fired head coaches to become coordinators elsewhere. We've seen it in Aggieland too. Wasn't one of our past DCs a HC somewhere else? Darnell?

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Richt's offense a little more wide open at FSU? Maybe Ags want him for experience and balance for the same reasons Lsu might. If Mark wants a HC job he'll go home to the Canes.

The Canes HC job is not a top job at all. Richt seems to be a class guy and He would be an awesome get.

And what does Sumlin think an offense should be? Seems he gives his OC's fairly long leashes and does not bracket them with any particular style.

Richt would be awesome, assuming he could live with not being the head man. Hard to do sometimes when you have been the HC for so long.

Richt was quoted today as saying "about 5 schools" have already contacted him about a coaching position. I'm sure we're at the head of the list with the OC job that may soon be available.

Or not...
