You are insane. You are assuming that Foster was ever truly in play. Not being a candidate for the Pitt job doesn't mean a guy that was never a real option is now a real option. I would be more optimistic about our chances with Foster if he WAS a Pitt candidate. At least then we would know he was maybe looking to move.

Ah, so Bunny Ag and Whatthehey are the same person. Spreadsheet updated.

That post in itself is not hateful. But when you have a poster that comments negatively constantly, other's get tired of reading it. Now he is perfectly entitled to his opinion. My opinion though is that he go share it over at the shag, where he will be considered a hero.

Foster is my number 1 guy. I would love to see that happen. Seems like the players and fans have a tremendous amount of respect for him. His defenses have been solid for decades. I don't think money would be the issue because we could double his current salary if he wanted a raise.

With the new AD I would be a little worried if I were in his shoes. The HC job that he always thought he was going to get might be slipping away from him. And, why not bring would talent to TAMU? We will get him better recruits than VT was getting and he could compete against the best defenses in the country.

I am going to have a bit of a letdown if it isn't him.

That is 100% incorrect. If he is looking at other opportunities then he is a viable candidate. We are willing to pay top 5 money for our new DC. Sounds like he is keeping his options open.

Whether one of those options is A&M is unknown, but to say that he is not a viable candidate could not be further from the truth.

He is only a viable option if you first make the assumption that his is, then look for proof to refute that stance.

If you take the stance that he isn't going anywhere except a head job (which has been true for the past 25 years), then look for proof to refute that stance, it is quite obvious that there is no evidence that he is a realistic candidate for the job of DC at Texas A&M for the 2015 football season.

I'm still new to this, but I have to say I'm a little surprised by one thing.
It isn't the negative posters, this is the internet afterall and they kind of come with the territory.
I'm more surprised by the apparently thin skin of the staff at this point. I mean, I get that dealing with nay-sayers and negative nancies can be a beating, but I'm assuming by now the bar would be set a little higher for what's considered truly over the line and not merely eye-roll worthy.

#1. Whatthehey never posts anything positive. Implying that Sumlin and the A&M program is having difficulty getting people interested in the job is crazy, so yes, it's a weak attempt at being hateful.

#2. I'm not sensitive to the truth at all. I'm very much a realist. I'm well aware of the limitations that a town like College Station offers, but also the benefits that a rich and powerful program like A&M offers potential coaches. Especially when we are recruiting so well.

#3. If I have a critique to make about the program, I can find a way to do it without sounding like a hysterical 4 y o girl who skinned her knee. A few posters on here can't make that claim.

I realize we could cover that $800k (or supposedly we can) he would give up to come here before Jan 1 and just bring him aboard, but if turns out to be him, then why did we wait?? Why would we wait given the tenuous recruit situations??

Yes the guy has been there forever but things change. Beamers time is drawing to an end and if Foster isn't in line to take over (and there's no proof that he is) and the fact that Sumlin and Foster have visited before when Sumlin was first looking for a DC and hired Snyder - yes I think there is a chance he's in the running again this go around.

Lets revisit this on Jan 2nd guys. I think a lot of people on here Re going to be eating crow and everybody is going to be extremely happy.

The only type of hire you're going to get right now until head coaches finish making moves is the type that has no hope of getting a head coach job (and usually there is a reason for that, someone hired now would be young, unproven, or not as desirable)

Why do people assume living in College Station is such a liability? Sure, it's not NYC, but neither is Blacksburg, VA.
