Apparently TA Radio is going to have an update on the search. Anyone care to share?

Update on DC search?

We need to hire somebody in the next couple of days.

Looch is now saying this could drag on a while...end of this week or next week before Christmas, maybe even after Christmas.

Looch is on now talking about it...
get radio aggieland app on zone1150.com or if you're local listen on 1150 am.

quote:Yes, Sumlin seems to believe he can get all the recruits he wants without rushing the hire and that hiring now wouldn't necessarily make a difference to any of these early commits.
correct, won't happen in next 72 hours
Sumlin believes Malik is locked in and he's taking his time now to get the right guy. That may mean giving Foster the time he needs or wants.

thanks kammrath for update
I'm listening now, but apparently not as good as you... don't worry about the BAS in here. Panties definitely in a wad over this one.
If you could have Mattison in 24 hours or Foster in 2 weeks. I'll take Foster, thanks!

basically we still don't have any idea who or when
quote:You bet. It takes careful listening to hear what Looch is trying to communicate.

He clearly knows stuff, but is obligated to be very careful about saying anything that will hurt Sumlin and A&M. Looch even talked about (during his discussion about WR coach) how Sumlin wants as little news out as possible during this time because the more the rumors fly, the more it hurts Sumlin's ability to have the conversations and negotiations he needs to have.
The point? Looch is trying to tell us stuff, but is having to do it in a veiled way that won't make headlines...you have to connect the dots yourself.
So the big takeaways?
1) Two names will surface by the end of the week, one that no one has been talking about. (Maybe, Foster and someone like John Chavis??)
2) This is going to be a top tier hire, the lower tier guys who are jockeying for the position know they have no chance. (TRANSLATION: It will not be Gibbs from UH.)
3) Sumlin seems to be very confident in getting the defensive recruits he wants this week. (So maybe expect everybody who Sumlin is targeting, except DeBerry, to commit to A&M??)
quote:
Also, the lower tier candidates (like Dave Stekel, Gibbs, etc.) who have been trying to get themselves the A&M job have been moving on because they know they don't have a shot.

Point #2 worries me. My excitement over a lower tier/Gibbs type hire would be minimal. We may have top tier targets and pray they come here. But, having watched these things play out before, they never pan out. If we ran off the next level guys, what are we left with?

Miles would be a fool to leave LSU for Michigan. As dumb as he is, I don't think he is a total idiot.

considering his history of terrible decisions working out in spectacular fashion, if he goes he'll win it all year one
