Do you think that Sumlin is such a great recruiter and the momentum for Malik is so good that we could land him on Dec 19th and still have some coaching uncertainty?

Assuming we get Malik the following are ways it could go down:
1. Malik likes newly announced DC and gets to meet him and the new LB coach (if there is a new one)
2. Malik gets to speak to the new DC only over the phone and not in person
3. Malik announces before we get our new DC

In any of the 3 scenarios, a Malik commitment shows a lot of trust in Sumlin / A&M as well as the other intangibles (SEC, close to home, academics etc.)

Haven't you read the other thread? Apparently Sumlin is on a plane headed to Blacksburg. He's probably sending Spav to do the in home.

Sumlin already met with Malik (all over twitter this morning). Who is in the plane? Sumlin or Bud going home?

This year we'll find out exactly what kind of a recruiter Sumlin is.....there is no JFF, no Heisman, no big bowl game, an average season. He is recruiting on potential and hopes for the future.

If Sumlin lands Mack, Jefferson & Kirk off of 7-5 with no defensive coordinator in place. The man is a absolute wizard.

Agreed! And I think that has to be taken into account when you talk about Sumlin's paycheck.

If we land Bud or a similar DC, it will also be partially do to Sumlin momentum.

None of us knows who the new DC is going to be. But I bet M. Jefferson knows!

Aggiejay - Maybe Jeffersons Mom took the picture of her son and Sumlin. Then maybe when Charlie went to take a picture with Jefferson an asst. coach said "I will take the picture, you get in the picture Mom." Sometimes we read to much into stuff! Besides there has been a lot of top players go to a school their Mom didn't like the best.

Question about Foster actually being there, though...isn't that technically an in home visit from VaTech?

easyyy Dumbledore....Florida had a 4-8 season and had a top 10 recruiting class...Tennessee went 5-7 last year and had a top 10 recruiting class.......Georgia was 7-5 (before their bowl game) and had a top 10 recruiting class.....don't blow your load just yet....with that said in Sumlin I trust (for now)

Sumlin is an elite recruiter. Malik is an Ag. Calm down.
