Seems like a dumb move to me. SMU is crap and Chad Morris isn't going to fix it.

Good for SMU. I don't have any hate for them and would like for them to be somewhat competitive.

I see no reason why they can not be at least as competitive as Rice or Houston. I think it's a good hire.

Smart hire for SMU.

Not sure that it was smart of Morris to accept though.

I'm not really seeing a huge downside for Morris at SMU. Gets him back to Texas, more money, gets him out of that stupid buy-out clause in his Clemson contract, and SMU is in the AAC. Not many world-beaters to compete with. He gets them bowl eligible in two, three years he's the next hot experienced HC looking for a new home.

Being a HC for SMU is like being a DC at A&M. Not many success stories lately.

So if he fails, he'll still land a great paying job as an OC, probably in the state. He really needed to get out of that Clemson contract. Although he was making grand theft money, it really prevented anyone from offering him a lateral move to another program not in Spurrier's recruiting shadow.

He will be able to recruit north Texas which could possibly hurt tcu in the future

Recruits are not going to turn down a playoff team to play for Morris. It could hurt UNT some.

Good move by Morris. He needs to be The Man somewhere as a stepping stone to being The Man at a big program (I'm looking at you muschamp )

depending on how things go, he could very well be the next HC at A&M or tu

This is the first time I'm hearing about this.

Great hire for SMU.
To 1,000,000 touchdowns ...and beyond

A lot of people said Art Briles could never turn baylol around... I think a smart offensive coach is a good move. I was kind of surprised June Jones didn't work out better. Good luck to Chad. Hope a fellow Ag succeeds.

How much is SMU going to pay him?

Edit: Nevermind, just read $2 mil.

So you wouldn't go for a couple million a year. Get real.

Did you really just say Spurriers recruiting shadow???? Spurrier hasn't had a recruiting shadow in damn near a decade.

Clemson was the " lesser" program in the state, once Spurrier went there. Many programs are leery of hiring coordinators for a HC job, witness Muschamp. Clemson paid Morris very well, but had a 5 mil buy-out for him taking a lateral move.
