Frustrating to watch this simple offense. Our offense is a read offense and the play is called based on how the defense is aligned. The first year we had the element of surprise since the SEC defenses hadn't faced too many spread offensive. You can see how the defenses have adjusted over the past couple of years to shut the spread down.

If you look at the replays of the games over the past year and a half you can see how the defenses show one formation and then audible once we call our play. The defense is dictating if we're going to pass or run based on how they set their formation.

Gotta get more creative or just run the play and quit calling audibles based on how the defense is set.

We always seem to score on the opening drive. Maybe we should just script 100 plays per game and run them no matter what the defense does

Simpleton offense with no element of surprise, what do our coaches expect. we give the defense plenty of time to adjust at the line of scrimmage.

Speedy is always telling the db's what route he is running. It's because he knows he will catch it anyway but the defender being right there gives him a chance to make SC top 10

I always read on here from the so called experts that the defense didnt have enough time to adjust because of how quickly we snapped the ball. Now that we play really slow I wonder if it makes our simple offense that much easier to stop.

If we have to bring in manning then obviously our coaches can't develop.

I agree with aggie-master -

We run the offense too slow. We line up quickly like we're going to hike the ball, look at the defense., check with the coordinator, change the play. The defense sees we've change the play based on how they are lined up and they change their play.

We are more effective when we just run to the line and run our play. Don't give the defense time to adjust, just run the play.

I said this on another thread, our issue is losing a true dual threat at QB. Sumlins offense is made for that so that you can put rec on the field and not running backs and blockers. Without that it screws up the offense and forces them to change into something more traditional. Next year with Murray, if he comes, we will be very good. Having to change the scheme mid stream because of the QBs lack of performance hurts the whole team including defense.

if the D comes out in a run stopping look and we audible, they then know we are going to a a pass play so they can change to match that; and vice versa if they come out in a pass defense look and we audible then then know we are going to a run so the ycan change as well.


I think we should just gewt up to the line and run the play thatwas called no matter what.

When we do this at the end of games/halves we are much more effective and the D appears to be more back on its heels

auburn's spread is so effective because they get up there so quickly and just snap the ball

We negated one of our biggest advantages by slowing things down.

Watching Ole Miss & Auburn run their offenses, watching their tempo, is a thing of beauty.

Good question. OC and QB cannot handle it? Also, it helps to have success on first down, which we are not doing.

This coaching staff fears that they'll get "figured out" - so they change the way they play.
Which stinks. Bc nobody ever figured it out.

Well, they have figured it out now.

Right now we're playing in fear by slowing things down and trying to call the exact play that might work with an audible. Run the first play called, put the defense on their heels and make them play in fear having to react. Sometimes we'll be right and sometimes we'll wrong but at least we dictate the game not the defense we're playing against.

They know our snap count too

The only plays i've seem are throw right three yards out, throw left three yards out, hand off to running back three yards behine the line, and throw a long one that doesn't connect. By my math that's 4 plays. Where are the other 4?
