I'm not jabbing at anyone, but has anyone experienced a Stealth fly-over? They had them at the Chicago airshow a few years back; I'm standing on the beach, not paying attention and all of a sudden, WHOOOSH (or something like that); I swear I soiled my boxers - you can NOT hear those planes coming, but you sure as shootin' can hear them going.

honest mistake about the subscriber board guys. I'm so used to that board I forgot it was pay. That is a funny point about a flyover at night. Hopefully it's stll near dusk!

Dude...I'm pretty sure we had a stealth bomber flyover here in 2001.

I lived in Wichita for a couple years and we were in the flight path of the airforce base there. Every time one of the bombers came by it set off all the car alarms at our apartment.

maybe they'll do a bombing run to make sure everyone's paying attention

if it's a b-2, it shouldn't be too loud...now, a b-1, that would be interesting to see 80,000 people all duck at the same time.

There was a B-1 fly-over last year.

They had a stealth bomber flyover at the CWS in 2002. Very cool. Didn't realize it until it was right on top of us. When it turned, flipped up on its edge and started flying away from the stadium, you could barely hear it and it disappeared very quickly.

I believe we had two B-1 bombers fly over before the 2000 Oklahoma game. That, my friends, was freaking awesome. The whole stadium shook as they flew over.

I'm still waiting for the Boss Bird to reappear!

We need an ICBM to fly over.

A B-1 did the fly over during final review 2 years ago. Last year it was a B-52.

If you are referring to Wichita, Kansas, I think you are talking about being in the flight pattern of the B-1 bombers. They used to be stationed at McConnell. Very rarely (only during airshows and special events) would Stealth bombers fly over Wichita.

I wonder how many times it has to air-refuel to get way the hell out in the middle of nowhere.

We had a B2 flyover at the Temple game last year. It was so freakin' awesome. You honestly can't hear anything until it's right on top of you. NOTHING like a B-1 flyby.

Can't wait for Thursday night.

You're probably right (I don't know a B-1 from a B.L.T.), but I did see a stealth jet flying south of Wichita once. When I glanced over it was flying at 90 degrees, then it flattened out and was almost invisible. It was a pretty awesome sight. By the way, Wichita(KS) had all sorts of unusual planes flying over due to all the airplane makers in the area.

The game starts @ 8:00 E, so that means it will still be "duskish".

2 thumbs up: I grew up in Mulvane, which is just south of Wichita. My folks later moved to Derby and their house was in the McConnell/Boeing flight pattern. We could see the pilots' helmets when the Kansas National Guard was landing F-16s. You are right, Wichita is home to Boeing, Cessna, Beech, and Learjet.

Stealth Bomber----> B2, nothing else.

The B1 and B52 are much more visible on a RADAR screen. I saw a B1 take off at dusk from Hill AFB, Utah. That was an awesome sight. Four big afterburners and a whole lotta noise. The ground trembles beneath you. I love it!! The sound of freedom!

I am ready for an F-22 fly over. That plane is friggin' awesome. Too bad we are a few years away from that being possible.

I'm an aircraft buff. Hope this works. As you can see, the B1 and the B2 look nothing alike.
The B1 is also much louder than the B2. As with any fast moving jet, when it's coming towards you, you see it long before you hear it.

Right now, there are less than 15 F/A-22 aircraft in existence. I've never seen one fly in person.

I worked in Wichita for awhile. Lived in Belle Plaine, so I drove through Mulvane on a regular basis. Isn't Mulvane Coach Fran's wife's hometown or something like that.


FTW: Which plane is which in your last picture? The one in the middle is the one I was refering to as being so darn loud. I saw the one on the bottom a few times over Wichita, KS as I mentioned earlier.

In case somebody's 5 year old kid asks, the reason the B-52 looks like its diving into the ground there is because it was originally designed for much higher altitude flight. Therefore, it's wings have a higher angle of attack. Just a heads up.

USAFA Falcon Stadium's pregame airshows are so awesome. A few years back during the pregame for the navy game, a B-1 came screaming (actually you couldn't here it till it was on top of you) down the front range and right when it got over the stadium the pilot yanked back on the stick and started going vertical. That was probably the coolest fly by i have ever seen. They should have a "bone" fly over Kyle for T+1
