In the past we have used Slingbox and a mobile 4G air card. It connects to your home Cable box and broadcasts the signal over Wifi. Its the cheapest way that I have found so far.

Where do you plan to tailgate? Do you have access to a generator or not?

If generator, it'll be easier.

If not, marine batteries hooked up to inverter for your power will be the way to go(which is what we have to do in Spence).

Do you have dish/directv or does someone that is part of your tailgate have it? If you have dish you can get the tailgater.

If you don't want the tailgater, or you have directv, you can get something like this:

Basically you'll need an extra dish that you can bring out there. Then bring one of your boxes from home. hook it up, align the dish, and you're watching TV.

If no one in your tailgate has satellite, you can always buy an hd antenna and get the network channels.

I make these and have one similar at my tailgate just get dish or direct tv bring the box out to the tailgate set up the dish aim PROFIT

5) Sit and enjoy.

how long can the TV run off those batteries?

Last I calculated it was around 13-14hrs depending on heat & drain I usually run it from around 8am to the time we leave spence around 9-10pm and that's also used for charging our phones too.

im debating if i should get the dish tailgater or not. Is there anything else out there, maybe cheaper cost?

I have a set up like AG @ Heart's, and I run everything plus a fan off it on hot game days. It's perfect for Spence tailgating. I also use it in the back yard every now and then for outdoor movie night.

We have the set up that AG @ HEART showed and it works well. Last all day and we too are in Spence park!

check Craigslist..I found a dish & tripod for under $100.

Or find a buddy that comes out and use their box and just find a dish on Craigslist or eBay or even a winegard

Don't be cheap on the power source. Get a Honda inverter generator if the tailgating spot allows it. If you have just a standard definition satellite box, you can just buy a satellite dish on a tripod. It usually gets a signal pretty easy. HD is much tougher to get a signal, so I would get an automatic dish for that.

Oh, and beer is needed.

cheapest way to get a dish tailgater?

Has anyone used the Ryobi invertor generator? It's about 60% of the cost of a Honda.

You can buy a dish and stand relatively cheap on e-bay or Amazon. Once you set it up one time for College Station, it is just a matter of leveling it and rotating it, the next time, to get a good signal. I do it every week.

You can get HD just fine. Just make sure you have a dish that can get it, bring out one of your boxes, and it's the same hd as you get at home.

Think that's only true if you use the tailgater satellite that automatically finds the signal for you. Use a regular dish and will get HD.

I just got a new setup with the dish on a tripod and an hd box and get HD just fine.

Be aware though that if College Station is more than 100 mile radius from your home you will not be able to get the local channels such as CBS and ABC unless you call them and have your address changed to another within the 100 mile radius. At least thats what i was told by them.

I have been very happy with my Workhorse inverter generator. Very quiet, lighter than the Ryobi and about $600. I think the Ryobi is about $50 less, but weighs about 11 pounds more.

Both are good alternatives to the Honda, but Honda still can't be beat.

Looking at satellite antennas online. Specs tell which satellites each antenna can receive. Anyone know which satellites are needed to get espn, secn, etc.?

Antenna is only going to get you over the air channels. Which is your basic networks. The satellite dish will get everything you normally get at home.
