Maybe I am just ecstatic about the state of our tailgating, but it seems that in the last 6 years, we have seen our pregame atmosphere grow by leaps and bounds. The area around Reed Arena and Kleberg (R lot) have really taken off. At the R lot, two guys strumming guitar has evolved into a full fledged band. Also, a band at the NE corner of the new parking garage. I am just thrilled to see our pregame atmosphere grow to the state it is in.

People are really getting to places early now. It is great to see.

I noticed this around Reed yesterday too... Reed Arena, Kleberg and Olsen lots really looked like an SEC type tailgating atmosphere!!

And just remember, parking spots have now been established. Please respect the almighty parking etiquette unwritten rules. I showed up at Reed at 8:30 (and stayed) to get mine. I'm hoping that work pays off for the rest of the year.

I do think it is bull crap for people to put tables and chairs in parking spots and leave. If your going to put out for some of the better spots, by all means suck it up and stay.

In the new garage, it looked like levels 1,2,3, and 4 were pretty full. Level 5 and 6 had spaces available.

great, now i'm sure we'll all start hearing about what a time-honored "tradition" tailgating is at A&M and how Aggies were the ones who started it all....................

I'm far away, and am only going to be able to get to one (maybe two) games this year, but I'm glad to hear that the tailgating has continued improving. I've watched it for a long time, and have always wondered why tailgating for a long time before the game (like the SEC schools) has never really been embraced by Ags. I've even seen some fraternity guys get yelled at and scolded for having a "too loud" tailgate in the Rec Center lot before, when it looked to me, the innocent bystander, that they were just conducting normal, everyday NCAA pre-game activities! Keep it up, those of you getting out there in full force. If you ever get a chance, see an SEC game and their level of tailgating. It kills me, since we don't have that level of pre-game activity, but that seems to be one area where they really have us. Keep it up!

I agree with you. I must have been on the same row as you over in Reed. We were the last space on the row, next to the motorcycle parking. We got there at 11:30, and that was the last space available on the row. Next to us, somebody blocked 3 parking spaces with tables and didn't show back up until around 2:00. Either show up and stay or don't come block of an area that you won't use for several hours.

The improvement over the last 10 years or so is drastic and very welcome. I park out in Lot R and the tailgating is nice. The only problem with it is that it is all so spread out, at some universities it is all centralized and makes for a wild scene.

What is the etiquette rule about moving seemingly 'abandoned' junk from a parking spot and then parking there?

Hope to see you out there again this weekend. I know exactly where you were. If I recall, you had a black SUV of some sort. I should be out there again around 8:00, if not Friday night. As my brother-in-law said, his suburban will easily move the tables and chairs. I know people want to hold a spot, but they should at least make some physical attempt to do so.

Is Lot R a first come first serve type parking, and is there any parking passes still available for this lot? It sounds like a lot of fun out there and was wondering if they were still available? Thanks.

You need to get a Lot R pass from the 12th man foundation. May still have availability, was only 60% full this past weekend.

Spence Park tailgating continues to grow each year. There was a noticeable difference from last year. We've been there for 4 years now and it just keeps getting better!

Lot R is a reserved 12th Man lot this year for the first time for RV goers primarily. It is currently full, and there is no waiting list. You have to be a 12th Man member and put the request for change in with the season ticket application annually. I have called and asked.

I have a Coleman Powermate and we have to run it around the corner from our tailgate in order to have a conversation. I'm sure the folks that show up later in the day don't appreciate the noise it produces.
