As a follow up to the white towel thread, bleacher banging is another thing I'd like to see come back. We did this a lot in the late 80's and early 90's, and the noise it made was incredible. It was like a huge freight train was chugging right down the center of Kyle Field.

Bring back the bleacher stomping !

Just make sure you "uncover" when you're stompin' on "the wood"!

I really want to get back to the days of calling the QBs name after he'd been sacked. I'm sure the Klingler boys remember it, as does Peter Gardere.

"Kyle Field at Texas A&M, outside of which they buried five Reveilles, the border collie mascot, in such a way that the passed-away pooches could "see" the field. When they expanded the stadium, blocking the view, the Aggies built a small scoreboard nearby so the dearly departed mascots could see the score of the game. Until you have been among the crowd of 25,000 or more that gathers at midnight Friday to scream and yell in advance of the next day's game, you really can't appreciate the depth of feeling for the game at this place." -- Bart Wright, Greenville, SC Online Paper

I remember, probably like you, having to switch legs to stomp, switch arms to swing towel and finding every last fiber of your vocal cords to destroy. You could hardly move the next day and could not speak clearly till the next Tuesday. Damn that was fun!

But we were some LOUD B@$TARDS weren't we?

I don't think New Army knows their potential effect on the game. They need to think of the OU'02 Game for every Game kinda noise.

I remember bleacher stomping on the 3rd deck. The only problem was the bleachers started teatering and us somewhat intoxicated people keep falling off.

Thats right !

The volume was intense, and just when you thought it could not get louder the opposing QB would show signs of struggling with the noise and we'd crank it up another notch !

i dont want any of you complaining in december when people are always falling on you from behind because their bleacher is no longer viable as a people-supporting device.....

i swear i get stuck with one of these f***in rickety bleachers every week!!!!!

If I remember correctly, there was a ton of bleacher stomping going on in the 2000 OU game.

Where I "sit" it's hard to stomp on the bleachers...too many butt's on them.

It sucked for Peter in '91. Damn, from his first play from scrimage, it was "PEEEEE-TEEEEER!" That had to suck. Made a hell of an impression on me at my first A&M-tu game.

So this is why I couldn't keep balance on the first deck bleachers last year (or any other time)! Pretty hard to stomp bleachers that have been beaten to death!

Drunk? You didn't have to be drunk not to be able to stand on the bleachers. But, I do know that it was harder to stand for midnight yell than the game, so I guess drunk had something to do with it.

tu vs. A&M - 1985

The tu quarterback -don't remember the name- stepped back off the line and requested help from the ref to quiet the crowd down. -he he-

We cranked it up several notches and if I recall correctly, he got sacked.

What a night!

I stomp but people just look at me strange. I let them look and just keep stomping.

Thank goodness I can finally whoop this year. Now I won't be wearing out my voice with that infernal sophomore wildcat.

No one behind me will be able to stomp on the bleachers I am occupying since I went for the extra money and got the removable bleacher seats from the 12th Man this year. They put them there before each game for my seats, then reinstall them each game.

Although I generally spend most of time time standing up, that way my seats are defined and I don't get cramped by those who cannot seem to find their one seat with their fat arse.

anyone else get these? It is new this year

TxAggieBand85, you are thinking about Brett Stafford in 1987. Loudest Aggie football game I've ever attended.

Until t.u 2003....

I can't imagine stomping on the first deck bleachers. People sway front to back so much that you can get sea sick just looking down the row.

If any of you were around to see how easy it was to demolish the horseshoe, you would think twice about stomping on the first deck.

I've been to a bunch o' games, but not many compare to the t.u. games of the mid '80s.
On the 1987 game against Brett Stafford..... did that game set an NCAA precedent for the crowd causing a delay of game penalty?
I remember the ref calling multiple time-outs (not for TV) and Stafford complaining over and over that he couldn't hear at all.
Correct me if I'm wrong, if you know the facts.

Bleacher stomping can be dangerous and creates a lot of stress on the structure. Stomping in unison at the right frequency by enough people could damage the structure.

Just yell.

Cool! A new "BTHOB" yell...Beat the hell outta Bleachers!

I can see it now; the Yell boys motioning their right legs in a stomping motion and the sea of maroon-clad berserk Aggie fans begin stomping the bleachers.

Ags win!

In all seriousness, stomp yell stand do something anything as opposed to the last couple of years' inaction. Just thinking of the CU game at Kyle Field circa 2000 makes me ill.

Insert "swaying" for stomping and you have a darn good excuse for stopping the whole War Hymn thing. Matter of fact, swaying perfectly at just the right frequency for long enough can collapse one whole deck...so its even more dangerous.

Does anyone remember watching the sand fleas versus the sips last year on FSSW. It was a night game in Lubbock, problem #1, and all I can remember is that towards the end of the game, the camera kept cutting to the stands, and those drunk boys were passing bleachers around the stands, like someone was body surfing, except it was with a metal bleacher that was 50 feet long...it was nuts.

It was blazing hot at last year's tt game and I was in the First Aid room (I was pregnant and needed a cool place). The War Hymn was playing and I was leaning up against the wall in the room. I felt the stadium moving! It was really wierd and I remembered reading articles about journalists throwing up because of the crowd swaying. I felt strange, but I didn't barf!

The sophomore wildcat made me almost pass out every game last year cause I had been yelling s much. Really looking forward to almost passing out from regular yelling instead.

I have no problem with bleacher stomping. The more noise the better. In the OU game last year, everyone around me was yelling and stomping. I could barely think it was so loud. I loved it.
