This is a great idea. Charlie ignores their ego hoping it will go away, but he can't turn the tide in Texas that has made high school football a big deal.

We don't make the kids megastars, an emphasis on Texas High School football where some HS playoff games have better attendance than college bowl games makes them megastars. The Friday Night Lights mentality combined with social media made them megastars.

We can either play ball and cater to their ego, or let the LSUs, UCLAs, and tOSUs cater to their ego and leave us with scraps.

Satellite - There is no arrogance to this in my opinion. It is called recruiting! Or would you rather be good little boys and go back to taking peoples left-overs and losing? I can promise you Sumlin and his staff and Jackson and his staff don't coddle these guys! That is where Mack and the Horns messed up. They stopped working. That won't happen at A&M. A&Ms staff has a different mind-set than Mack and his guys had!

We got a top class and we're promoting that. If we had the #36 ranked class and tried to make it sound like that's a huge positive then I'd agree with you. IMO there's a huge difference in promoting our brand and promoting our players/recruits than in the arrogance displayed by the sips the last couple decades.

Even if we overdo it a bit on the hype/promotion that isn't what got the sips where they are today. It was the complete arrogance that prevented them from addressing problems as the arrose. It was spinning everything so that it looked like a positive for them. We aren't doing that in any way here.

Hope we put up a couple in Louisiana, too.....

I assume it's all the guys from that area.

I assume none of our recruits are women so they are not jealous. If they do not like it they can work their tails off to prove they should be on a billboard. But I agree the guys on the billboards are from that area.

Love how people on here spin everything. If the sips did this most of y'all would be grilling then for being arrogant.

Frankie T - was making more of a blanket statement that people would be livid if the Longhorns did this, but everyone's fine with it when it's us.

I didn't read your second paragraph, but I did now and do understand the point you're making. Hopefully it's the truth, and while somewhat over the top it's just purely a marketing ploy and not the beginning of an arrogant mindset (which I don't think it is for what it's worth).

I do think people are getting quite confident when the Ags haven't accomplished anything with these recruits yet. I'm just as excited about getting top classes, and there's nothing wrong with excitement - I'm just a little more timid in boasting until we actually do accomplish something with these guys. Of course I'm still a recovering BASaholic. It's a struggle every day...

It IS a little over the top but hell, everything relating to big time college football is these days. It's harmless really. We are finally in a position where we can splurge on "gadgets" like this, I'm sure the guys in the current class love it and if a 2015 is on the fence with us (you listening, Kyler?).....maybe it'll make them think "you know, those guys are really big-time". A little attention goes a long way.

Sumlin appears to be an ethical, results-oriented, total war kind of guy. I completely approve.

X's and O's Strong will find himself coaching D-II if he doesn't resolve his Asperger's afflictions real soon.
