Yeah yeah old rivalries board I get it.. No one actually goes on there so Im posting it here. Some of you act like our rivalry with tu never happened and it actually kind of bothers me. Yeah, sure we aren't in their shadow anymore in the Big 12 and having to deal with the LHN. We obviously won the past couple years with the move to the SEC and the disaster that they are currently undergoing. Maybe we don't need to play them anymore in the interest of whats best for our football program.
When we left the Big 12, Loftin made a very clear "anytime, anywhere" statement which he repeated just recently but with him leaving that doesn't mean anything. They denied the offer and now somewhat have suggested that they are interested in playing again. I don't blame them, they obviously need us more than we need them. But now some of you are acting just as arrogant as they did when we left by refusing to play them again.
The rivalry has a special place in the tradition and history of our University, State, and football program in particular. Sure, maybe it won't be the same for a very long time in terms of when and where we play them and if we ever establish a series with them year in and year out. Im all for having a rivalry on thanksgiving with LSU next year, maybe Ill feel differently if that actually becomes something relatively close to what we use to have. What Im trying to say is that the rivalry is going to be hidden from a lot of this "new army" that you olds often batch about. Going all 4 years without being able to watch A&M and tu play on the football field is a crime IMO. Too much politics and arrogance on both sides to realize how important the rivalry really is.
