Real football talk, I hope the zoo can handle it...


So I've been seeing some pundits mention it(including Luicci). I was wondering what it was. From what I've heard we used it last weekend, is it a variant of the 4-2-5? It seems to be a defensive answer to spread teams.

Thoughts?

Lets see if I can explain this succinctly.

Nickel = 5 db
Dime = 6 db
Penny = 7 db

from what it sounds like, it uses 2 linebackers and a nickelback but that's all I know. I don't know what separates it from a nickel.

and I thought that 7 was Quarter

Doesn't make sense. They should call 7 DBs a bit (12.5 cents) defense to be consistent.

I just dont see it other then maybe 3rd and long against an empty set. However, most teams dont go empty on 3rd and long.

Whichever 4 are playing up front must be able to handle the opponent's run game. I dont see how on earth that can happen with our personnel.

Who remembers the 1-10 defense we ran a few years back with Fran? I think it was against Tceh. I think that is the "Peso"defense so secretively spoken about.

Ha, for some reason I'll always remember my friend *****ing about the "Drop 10, Rush Renuel Greene" play we ran against Tech. It didn't work.

On a related note, I never understood why the fullback was in front of the halfback. It seems like the blocking back should have been called the halfback and the runningback called the fullback.
