Will be having my own tailgate this year for the first time. When is it ok to go stake your spot gameday morning or day before?

At noon the day before the game

Here is all you need to know. If you see a good spot, take it. Don't let anyone tell you you are on "their" spot.

This, unless its my spot, then you have to move.

There are several people who have tailgated in the same spot for many years. I would avoid those areas. Of course, there should be someone there to stake that spot by noon. Just respect others when looking for a spot.

Correct. We set up our tent every Friday at noon just so we can guarantee our spot. We've been in the same spot for 10 years and have lost it only twice. We also have a Lot H pass which makes the competition a little lower for a spot.

If you are going to get there at noon and set up, do everyone a favor and actually tailgate. The two times I lost our spot the people didn't show up until 30 min before the game.

have to be cleared by midnight after the game!

Glad they finally changed that...was 3 hours after game in the past

I agree. I hate sitting in traffic fighting to get out, so we typically tailgate for another two hours after each game (longer on big wins).

Love the midnight clear out, makes it way less stressful. Just go stake your spot if no one is there and don't be a jackass.

Do you have an idea on the spot or do you have a parking pass already? Some areas fill up faster than others (i.e. Spence, Reed, etc)

Are their ever any spots left the day of? I'm looking to tailgate, but just got tickets to the SHSU game and as I'm a teacher, I can't take friday off.

We will probably get into town by 9a, and the game starts at 6p.

just please tailgate in a lot where you have a pass. We've been in the same spot at reed for years now and it's BS when people pull up and unload it all from the street... especially when it's an hour before and it's people just sitting under a tent drinking god awful bud light.

I'm going to be that guy for a second. Can someone explain to me what exactly I need to do to tailgate?

I don't have a reserved spot, and like I said before I'm not going to get into town until about 9a on saturday before the SHSU game.

Where do I need to go? What do I do to grab a spot? tailgating.tamu.edu is not very informative for the unwritten etiquette that is tailgating.

Also, if tailgating myself is out of the question, how open is the atmosphere for some ol' ags to join in?

iF you are going Saturday morning, you literally just need to walk up to an empty spot that isn't staked off and set your stuff up. That simple.

I don't have a pass, what about spence or simpsons? Are those acceptable places for a drop off situation like you said?

Lot 50 is easiest IMO. No traffic and such.

Awesome. Are their many people tailgating in LOT 50 usually?

It's mainly RVs but you can back up to the grassy areas and put your tent there. Then catch the buses before the game. It's $15 per car. Last year it was $10 but oh well.
