I think it's just a tune to a popular song from the 1910s or something, that a lot of colleges adopted.

On Wisconsin. My old High School in deep South Texas used to play this until recently. The fightsong was recently changed to Jalisco. Go figure.

Dudes, it was written in the 1890's. It was mega-popular. Winston Churchill used to jam out to it. It's not "ours" by any stretch of the imagination.

The song was written in 1896 and was a popular song in its day. Lots of schools use it.

The War Hymn is a rip-off of "Good-bye, My Coney Island Baby."

My high school, New Braunfels High, also used the tune "On Wisconsin for our fight song, as I am sure a ton of others do as well.
