Alright, now that the schedule is out, I plan to start making my travel plans for 2012.

Which cities are the most convenient to fly into for each SEC school? For example, you would most likely fly into Houston for a game in College Station.

From there, they have puddle jumpers into CS/Easterwood Field. American used to fly into there from Dallas as well. It may be worth trying to locate closer regional fields that are serviced by the major hubs.

I would not recommend flying into any cities. The plane would explode for sure.

Fayetteville is XNA. Tulsa is a 2 hour drive.

looks like there is no commercial service from Memphis to Oxford airport...driving distance is 80+ miles.

SEC road trips are made for driving. That's what I would do. Load up the car and take off down I-10 or I-20

When it comes to Florida, Jacksonville is the closest as its i believe 80-90 miles away.

I live out in California and we fly into Tampa the most because its usually the cheapest.

Tampa is about 2 1/2 hours from Gainesville, Orlando is roughly the same(2 to 2 1/2 hours).

As for hotels, if you can't find a hotel in Gainesville, Ocala is about 30 miles south of Gainesville and many Gator fans usually stay there who don't stay in town.

From my experience, Tampa is the cheapest, Jacksonville is the shortest drive.

Flying into Gainesvile is very expensive, i can't imagine a flight from Houston to Tampa being that expensive.

For MSU flights in to Columbus, MS or Memphis.

The drive from the airport in Memphis to Oxford is about an hr 15 and not bad once you get out of the hood. Getting to Starkville from Memphis will be about 3-3.5 hrs. When going to Oxford from Memphis it is easiest to take hwy 78 to Holly Springs, MS then take hwy 7 south

One reason we should have joined the Pac 10.

All direct flights and $900 less for one way
than the SEC

Memphis to Ole Miss is an easy drive. I drove there twice a week for externship when I was working on my Masters.

Atlanta is not a bad drive to most games.

Hmmm, fortunately I can just fly myself to each local airport near the game. Travel dilemma solved here.

Let me know how many direct flights there are from anywhere in Texas to Pullman, Corvallis, Palo Alto, Berkeley or Eugene. I won't be holding my breath. The routine won't be much different than going to most of the old Big 8 schools...fly into a bigger city, get a car and drive.

Memphis is definitely the airport of choice for Ole Miss. Jackson and Little Rock are both about 3 hours away and both served by Southwest.

Birmingham, Jackson, Littlerock, all about the same to oxford. memphis has no SW service so you may pay outrageous prices.

Load up the SUV and hit I-20. Living in East Texas, Tyler...I've got a slight advantage, but when I was at A&M, we drove to Lincoln, NE and it was a blast!
Nothing like a road trip with the fellas. The strip joints weren't bad in Lincoln either. I was VERY surprised, or drunk. Okay...you got me; both!

Don't fly into Little Rock for Hog games unless the game is there...or you have to.
You'll wanna fly direct into Fayetteville for games there, or drop down in Tulsa and make the two-hour drive.
It's about 111 miles from the Tulsa airport to Fayetteville.
From the Little Rock airport, it's about 193 miles.

XNA is the airport for the Fayetteville games. Just west of Cave Springs, about 15 to 20 minutes from the stadium. Does Drake Field in Fayetteville even offer direct flights anymore for anything over private plane sizes?

For Arkansas there are AirTran (soon to be SWA) flights into Branson BKG that u can get pretty cheap. Only about 85 miles to drive to Fayettville. Takes about 90 minutes. XNA in Fayettville has the distinction of being the most expensive airport in the country on a "per mile flown" basis. Way too much business travel coming in to see Walmart.

And why you flying into Denver for a Penn game?

NB Maroon- looks like you're the one who should get your head out.

$900 LESS??? You're not too smart if you're paying even half that for any SEC destination.
