what would our schedule look like? I assume most of the AQ teams have the majority of their non-conf schedules set several years in advance, so it would be difficult to pull together a Notre Dame-type schedule on short notice. A string of home games against cupcakes looking for a payday would not impress the pollsters. Could we hold out for 2 years until the statute of limitations runs? Thoughts?

Our Ath Dept has more than just a FB team. It would be impossible for all the other sports to be independent.

We would be pseudo member of sec. We would play an sec schedule but would not actually be in the league. Sumiliar to Notre dame and the Big 10

I think ND does all other sports but football with the big east, so it is plausible. However, we would have to find a conference that knows we are out the door as soon ad the big 12 implodes.

Going indy should not be an option. Recruiting would suffer. Would set the program back several years.

In Texas, the statute of limitations for contract claims is four years and for tort claims is two years. The time starts running from the date of the breach or the date that the tort was committed (unless one could not reasonably know of the breach or tort, in which case it would be the date of the discovery). Tortious interference with contract is a tort.

Giving notice of our intent to withdraw from the Big 12 in accordance with the contract is not a breach. On the other hand, the date that the SEC first tried to persuade A&M to join it is not known, but rumors suggest that it may have occurred last summer. It will be to A&M's advantage to argue that, if any discussions amounted to the tort, the tort occurred last summer.

We do not have our own network like Notre Dame & BYU.

We will not be independent for a year. We will be in the SEC in 2012

Very misinformed. The NBC deal only pays $9 million a year. We can absolutely live for a year or 2 as an independent. Especially if we have to vacate Kyle for renovations. How much would "home" games at reliant, Alamo dome, Jerry world, etc pay? Our neutral site game against arky pays $5 million. Assuming the sec would work with us on the schedule we would have the tv rights to lsu, Florida, miss state, and Arkansas. Schedule non conference games with say Boise and tu. We would likely make MORE money than we will in the sec.

I am pretty sure we will be in the SEC next yr but if not couldn't we play an SEC schedule without being an SEC member for a yr? It would suck being a second class citizen for a yr but it would actually be better than another yr in the Big 12 which most definitely is not going to happen.

I see no reason we'd have to do be indy for 2 yrs.

I think recruiting would be hurt, especially if more than one year. You only have a few years to play, who would want to have 1 or 2 wasted? Especially if uncertain situation and could be longer.
