I posted this on another thread. Treve Alberts lost all of my respect today. The way he got all emotional like his mother died or something about Fran leaving. What was this guy talking about?

Then to say something to the effect of : "Leaving Bama is bad enough....but leaving it for Texas A&M is a step backwards"

All Alberts is , is a washed up, no good, 1st round pick bust who looks ok on TV now so they have him on. He has no football knowledge and I for one will never ever listen to anything he has to say after he went off today. Then he started in on the namecalling with Byrne for leaving Nebraska to go to A&M.

Alberts obviously has some bent up hostility towards A&M for some reason in that he thinks that this school isnt good for anyone.

I hope ESPN wisens up and realizes what a sorry excuse for a journalist he really is and kicks him to the curb. Mel Kiper was right about you you sorry piece of garbage Alberts- You're nothing but a has-been who knows nothing and you can stick that microphone where the sun dont shine for all I care.

Alberts is a crybaby and has been for the better half of two years. I wish ESPN would get rid of him, he is miserable to watch no matter what school he is talking about. All he does in whine and complain.

But, I think A&M has also seen its fair share of positive coverage. Dodd's article for CBS Sportsline is incredibly favorable and a great read!

That was not a cheap shot at A&M, he's talking about the coaches who flat out lie to everyone about their intentions. Butch Davis did the same thing at Miami a few years ago. It was a classless, disrespectful thing to do to Alabama. As for A&M being a step backwards, Bama is the most storied football program in college football history while A&M might be top 10. My advice to you, dont get your panties in a wad when someone rains on your parade.

Trev Alberts is the worst! I have always had the utmost respect for ESPN and the commentators they use. Where in the heck did they dig up T. Alberts? I grow tired of his pompous remarks. He never gives the underdog schools any credit. He gives the classy fans of Nebraska a bad name big time!

yes, 610 is a clearchannel station, that damn company has gone crazy since the deregulation of the radio networks. that is the main reason for the decline of cd sales IMO, not napster or anything else, rather that no matter where you turn you here the same mainstream drivel radio forced down your throat. Clearchannel is owned by the McCombs, who afaik aren't ags.

That was a cheap shot. Every coach does it now, so why is Fran being singled out? And yeah Bama has a storied program, but they havent done jack over the last few years, and they could be facing the death penalty soon.

As of right now, Bama and A&M are on the same level and going to A&M is not a step back.

Why all the Trev bashing, he has ripped my school all season and I dont hate him. He hits the nail on the head all the time when it comes to predictions. Sure, he gets fooled all the time, just like every other prognosticator. Give the guy a break. Sure he's a little cocky, but all true football fans are.

Well at least you guys understand what Alberts says when he speaks... all I can hear when Alberts speaks is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, WAAAAAAAAAAAH, WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!
It's some weird phenomenon, does anyone elses tv do this? Maybe I should take it to the tv repairman? Maybe it's the quality of the satellite signal?

So Ags...Do you believe that Fran is the man? He's a turnaround specialist for sure!

The only negative thing about the man is that I have never seen a coach that can walk away from his players as easy as Franchione can. He left the TCU and Alabama players in shock each time by his sudden disappearance. Players think the world of the guy, and then all of the sudden he's bails out on them.

While Trev and anyone else in the media may be taking their shots at Fran, they are not taking shots at Texas A&M. A&M did what anybody else would do, whatever it takes to get who they feel is the right guy. They simply made an offer, Fran didnt have to take it.

P.S. Butch Davis left a well stocked squad at Miami. Coker doesn't have to do s___! Any coach in the country could be undefeated over the last two years. Want proof, how much coaching has he had to do in games?

He will probably leave sooner than later, but I doubt he leaves before he has some sort of successes at A&M. People wont want a coach that jumps from job to job and he knows it. I think he stays here until at least we get that elusive national championship. Then the siren song of the NFL may call...

To understand what is behind Trev's comments and other sportswriters comments read my thread titled "Insider information". It explains why Fran is catching so much flap from people in Alabama, Sportscasters,writers and Espn.
However, the truth will come to surface and Texas A&M will be proud we chose Coach Fran. He is Honest, turthful, and Loyal.

It was a classless, disrespectful thing of the WHOLE BAMA UNIVERSITY to lie to Fran the way that it did to get him out there. I pray that UA gets the death penalty for its behavior and the way they lied to get Fran out there. Talking to Bama players should be the UNIVERSITy'S job. While they are at it, they can say why Fran left...ie "we lied to Coach Fran and now he is getting out while the getting is good. You all should transfer now b/c we will not have football at Bama for a few years."

Point taken, but how many close games has Miami been in the last two years. Even their NC game was a walk in the park. They win on 85% talent and 15% coaching. I know Im exaggerating, but please tell me you see my point! By the way, this isn't exactly A&M football were talkin about.

I look for Fran to stay in C.S. at least as long as he stayed at New Mexico, which was 6 years. Trust me on this one. His wife Kim loves Texas more than Fran. I have had a number of people tell me she hated leaving Ft. Worth. I like the deep south myself, but she couldn't go anywhere in the Tuscaloosa area without being stared at. Heck, the media made a big deal about her going to Wal Mart right after they moved there because of all the money her husband was making. That would be laughable in Texas. Her influence on him alone will make Fran stay at A&M for a long time...at least in Franchione standards.

This anti-Fran faction is making me sick.

For the guy that seems to be sticking up for Trev Alberts: Look, I understand he is not bashing A&M. But Fran is now an Aggie, so he bashes Fran for no good reason, I take it personally. Especially since it has nothing to do with whats going on on the field. Fran is now one of us so we should all take it personally if Fran takes it on the chin unfairly.

Yeah, I too expect Fran to leave eventually because I understand its a part of the business. If Fran leaves here in 3 years after going 8-4, then loses in the Big 12 Championship the next year, and then wins the Big 12 Championship finishing in the top 5 the third year-I'll be greatful to Fran. I wont be whining and calling him disloyal just because Bob McNair and the Texans come calling for a new head coach and they are paying Fran $500K more to coach there.

Bama fans and these outta control analysts need to get a grip and come to reality.

GIVE 'EM HELL FRAN!!

They've been in so many close games because they cant seem to get motivated for gamedays. That is the coaches fault. On the other hand, I do have to give the coaches credit for pulling out those close games, there is something to be said for that.

Look, Trev Alberts is a big-time loser who simply will not say anything positive about a team in the same conference as he beloved Cornhuskers (a team name, by the way, which he can't spell).
But, you have to feel for Trevor. He has a very nasty history of picking the wrong horse. After all, he wasn't just a Colt, but the poster boy for CNN/SI, too.

Personally I think Franchione is destined to end up in the NFL. He can certainly build up young men, but I'm not sure he relishes that role.
I think he'll be here for 3 years minimum before the NFL starts tempting him however.

i'm still laughing at the obvious alabama fan that called alabama the most storied program in college football. i am not a notre dame fan but they have their own tv network for home games. they have more NCs and more heismans than anyone else. alabama has the bear. he won 6 NCs. that doesn't make alabama the best program.
