I want to take my 6 month old daughter to the game this weekend. Does she really need a ticket? I know the official policy says she does, but I've seen plenty of small children at games before, and I have a hard time believing they really all had tickets. Do they really enforce that at the gates?

Hell and yes.

Yes. And with all the extra bags, plus having to hold the kid, you will appreciate the extra room of the kids seat.

maybe you can get her in free thru the junioraggieclub or whatever it is

Damn. Charging a six month old girl full admission price seems sort ridiculous. Especially when she would be in someone's lap the entire game.

ntgardiner, This is my 19th year as a gateman at kyle. At one time if the child was "in arms" they did not need a ticket. But now days everyone needs a ticket. At times we will be given an extra ticket and we usually keep them as "baby tickets". You can always ask at any gate if anyone has extra tickets. Check the gates on the West side first.

Hey, maybe this ground has been covered on this site before, bu the idea of having to buy a ticket for an infant is a pretty strange concept. I've got three kids. I've taken infants to zoos, plays, concerts, movies, Astros games, and even airline travel, and never had to pay for a infant at any of these events. I'm just sort of shocked.

I am shocked that you WANT to bring a 6 month old the game. That just sounds like a horrible idea to me

Bill has nothing to do with this.

It changed when we moved into the Big XII. It is a Big XII rule, same for all 12 schools and even the 2 that are leaving soon.

Blast all you want but make sure it is on valid things please.

FYI: This isn't a Kyle Field thing.

I went to a minor league baseball game in Indy and had to buy a ticket for my one year old daughter. Granted the tickets were only $7; and I actually ended up buying an extra one just so my brother and I could stretch out more; big spenders.

You can't just stop living your life because you have children. And unless you've actually tried to find a babysitter for an infant you have no idea hard it is.

The idea is probably to discourage bringing babies into football games since it's not really a place for them. It's loud, and usually either way too hot or way too cold.

For better or worse there are still plenty of tickets available, and buying a ticket for a seat I'll never use isn't really that big of a deal. I guess I'm just surprised. I've really never encounter this before.

Like I said earlier, I've got three kids. I'm not a new parent. I've taken my kids everywhere from backpacking to football games to museums. Unless you're an actual parent of young children, I don't think you're qualified to pass judgment on what is and what is not appropriate for small children.

Stop living your life? No, but you do have to sacrifice some things.

This rule is simply encouraging people to not bring infants. That's why it is there, and personally I like it. Like others have said, either find a babysitter, don't go, or suck it up and pay for them.

Working as a tour guid while I was in college, I would have loved it had we had this rule. Instead, we allow infants on the tour for free, which gives people no incentive to leave them at home, and occasionally they ruin the tour for other paying guests. I know it's harsh, but that is the reasoning here. 6 month olds really don't belong at Kyle. Your time, and the people next to you, will be much better without.

And yes, if you tried hard enough I'm sure you could find a babysitter.

You will use the seat for the diaper bag, which hopefully you are smart enough to have buried some liquor in. Baby bottles are excellent for holding vodka.

While it hurts the parents' pocket book, I can definitely see the benefit of it. Most of the seats in Kyle are barely big enough for even the smallest adults, let alone someone bringing a child plus diaper back and whatever else comes in toe. The extra room is probably nice for everyone involved, both the parents and the people around them.

I'll tell you what, I will give you a free ticket if you can prove to me your baby will yell "uncover" throughout the game. We need a keeper of this tradition, and your baby could be a great candidate.

Yeah go out there and live your life. To hell with:

1. Overheated babies
2. Kids crying the entire time
3. The people around being uncomfortable because your kids need to spread out with your diaper bag, food, and toys. What are Toys for??? Because they don't want to be there watching a game.

Sorry for the rant but I got stuck between kids this past weekend.

The one in front:
All mom and Dad did the entire first quarter was try and get the 18 month to look in a camera. I guess they didn't notice he wasn't looking at it because he was trying to shield his eyes from the sun. At the start of the 2nd quarter once his cheeks were red and sunburned the parents realized he wasn't feeling well and left.

The group with three kids under 5 behind me.
1. Hitting me in the back as they were walking around playing.
2. The spilled drink one of them knocked over.
3. The Crying because they were "Hungry, Thirty, BORED"

OMG You have kids you life has changed.

I have a 2 year old and another one due in 3 weeks so I can judge. WHY would you want to take an infant unless you are in box seats or Zone Club?

It is way too hot and too loud! I can't believe how many red faced sweating babies I saw last week. You are going to pay $50+ to spend half your time going up and down stairs changing diapers. Be resourceful, find a sitter. We do it every week.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to one day take my kids to Kyle and teach them everything Aggie, but not until they are old enough (5+).

Well I am a parent, so I guess I am qualified to pass judgment here and brining a 6 month old to a football game at Kyle is ridiculous. Get a baby sitter. Not only will you not enjoy the game, but I guarandamntee you your 6 month old will not. It is a waste of money for you and a distraction to those around you that actually do want to watch the game.

Nobody knows if your 6 month old will be okay or not except you, so ignore all the crap from these other posters. I took all 3 of mine to games before they were 1 year old and they all did great. They did not cry, the games were in the evening, so heat was not a problem.

It can get noisy, but none mine show any signs of hearing damage.

Depending on where you are sitting, you can buy a game day cheap seat for the baby as I am assuming a 6 month old will be in your lap the whole time.

Try and sit in the armchair seats in the zone. You don't have to worry about getting squished and there is plenty of room up in the concession stand area where you can take the baby to walk around for a few minutes.

Hope you guys have fun!

chosin,

Again, you post stupid things you look stupid. This is a Big XII rule and it started the year we moved in to the Big XII.

Do some research before you start laying blame where it is not due.

The guy in front of me last week tried to bring his family. The older girls and ~6 year old boy seemed to enjoy it, but the infant screamed until his wife took him under the bleachers to play. She came back about every five minutes to apply the guilt. They left at halftime.

I felt so sorry for him. He obviously just wanted to experience a game with his family and tried too early. A couple more years and they'll have fun, but I wonder if he'll be able to convince his wife to try again.

I started taking my boys to games when they were about six and were interested in football.

Leave the infants at home.
The kid will not enjoy the game and will annoy others around you.
And before you start please spare me the "my kid is different". No being a parent does not mean your life stops..but you do make scarafices.
Why anyone would want to bring a 6 month old to a game at Kyle is beyond me.
Too hot, too loud,..and you think a 6 month old is going to sit on your lap quietly for 3+ hours.
Again do your kid and others sitting around you a favor and stay at home.

This is not a Big XII policy. I've taken my son to two games at DKR (last Nov. and last week) and he required a ticket neither time. He also didn't need a ticket for the Rangers this season (he went to 3 games).

And for the record, while the concerns about heat are legitimate, they're fairly moot for evening games. And I've seen plenty of kids who are a complete distraction and miserable, there are other kids who absolutely love it and are well behaved.

I meant for his wife to walk around after sitting with a 6 month in her lap for a couple of hours.
