How likely?

2-3 round. Not 1st round.

In other words, he would be wise to come back for his senior year, with a lot of hype.

I dont know about any "Von Miller" but I think Vaughn Miller is a first rounder.

If he is a projected 1st or 2nd rounder, he is gone. It's hard to blame him even though I selfishly wish he would stick around no matter what.

If he is first round, he is gone. If not , he is staying. Graduating means alot to himself and his family. Granted, if he was able to get enough money to compeltely change his and their life he will take it. Unless that situation arises, he will be back. Ive had the conversation with him a couple of time over the last month.

3rd or 4th round at best. The pros need someone 20 lbs heavier that can stuff the run as well as pass rush. He'll be back.

I hope Miller returns, he was a beast.

Good to hear nnichols, two back to back seasons like this could bump him up to first round I'd imagine.

Umm, he's gone... Best of luck to him in the NFL.

I say he sticks around and pads his resume because I don't see him going 1st round.

Just talked to Von. You will see him in maroon and white next year.

All depends on his measurables - especially height/weight. When you compare him to other players, he looks a little under 6'2" and around 220 which is a world of difference from what he's listed as. If that estimate is right, then I think he's 3rd-4th at best and getting his degree (or close to it) would be in his best interest.

That said, maybe his measurables will prove me wrong OR sometimes these guys don't do what we perceive to be in their best interest.

Of course, when it's YOU who don't have millions of dollars to lose, it's always never in thier best interest to leave.

If you are a 4th round pick you don't have "millions" riding on the decision. You'd have about 700K in guaranteed money.

Yeah, Danny's not saying it would be in his best interest to turn down millions.

It's jsut that some of these guys, either through bad advice or other circumstances, end up leaving and don't get much, if any, real payday to show for it.

In the NFL world where contracts aren't guaranteed and some mid-round picks don't even make the final roster cut, leaving school without real assurances that you are going to go in the first couple of rounds can be a very bad choice that leads to damage that can't be undone.

And you know for sure he would be drafted in the 4th round at the earliest? TexAgs have pretty good prognosticators if past history tells us anything. :-/

But that's irrelevant. My point still stands no matter the dollar amount.
Trucker 96
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Your point makes no sense then if the $ amount doesn't matter. The entire decision is largely predicated on the dollar amount. If there are millions on the table, then he should leave.

What he needs is a good assessment of where he stands to go, which Danny also mentioned he could be proven wrong particularly if those measurables turn out to be higher than they appear. No one is professing to be a draft expert, but you don't have to be an expert to realize that 6'1", 220lb rush specialists aren't in large demand at the top of the NFL draft.

Exactly, and the only guys with "millions" riding on a decision are 1st rounders & very early 2nd round guys, and OLB's (in a 3-4, since that is his best fit) that aren't at least 250 don't tend to get drafted in that neighborhood.

Give Von another year of weight training and another year of dominating film and he'll make himself a solid 500K + in NFL guaranteed money... I bet he could move up into late 1st round territory next year. Right now I'd expect him to be a 3rd to 4th rounder.

Why would he come back? He is not going to lead the nation in sacks 2 years in a row. He will be like Sergio Kindle, get double-teamed on every play.

Yes, a lot of people did see McGee as a fourth rounder b/c the NFL does not always draft on production. In McGee's case they drafted more on IQ, size, fit, and potential.

Miller has great pass rush defense production, but his run defense production is suspect. Unfortunately for him running as hard as you can up field is not a skill look highly upon...and NFL teams run over 50% of the time.

Miller has great speed and plays very hard.At the next level he will probably be asked to gain a few pounds so he can actually plug a hole and maintain a passing lane rather than letting McCoy run by him for 175.

You guys don't know von... The reason he wants to stay is because he values his degree. Him graduating is the number one wish of many of his closest family members. He considers leaving early to be the same as dropping out, and in his words, he isn't a quitter.

Exactly. Measurables can work for a player or against him - in a huge way.

Von Miller was getting hype from as early as pre-season.

Teams later on still couldn't stop him.

questions you guys want me to ask him?? The only bad thing I can say about Von is that he uses USC vs tamu when he plays NCAA 2010.

Unless he blows people away at the combine enough to be a first round pick, he'd be dumb to stay. He can always finish his degree later. However, Von's a pretty much a dedicated pass rusher at this point and needs to improve against the passing game as well as against bigger, better o-linemen. See what Okung did to him this year. Granted Russell is prob a top 5 pick, but Von still lacks some consistency.

I think some of y'all are discounting Von's improvement in the running game this year. IMO the biggest thing keeping him from being a guaranteed first round pick would be the ability to cover a RB or TE as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. Hopefully we will give him that chance next year & he will show people that he can be a pure OLB at the next level.
