Stop doing it. When I attended A&M in the mid/late 80's, we never did the "horns down".

Gig 'Em was the first hand gesture/symbol of the old SWC. Everybody else got jealous and had to make one for their school.

Give the Gig 'Em, don't give the horns down. Leave that for Zero U, Gaylor, Tceh, and the other.

Don't be New Army.

Gig 'Em is outdated. We don't play TCU anymore. I say we adopt the Horns Down, Guns Down, and upside-down Bear Claw.

Gig 'Em = so obsessed with TCU, we still recognize them though we don't play them

Let's change our hand signal to the hand salute. Maybe we can get more unsportsmanlike penalties!

whorns down is perfect for those freakin fools. Do it to them all the time. And anyway, we are all mixed up as far as signs and mascots go. Are we Aggies or Farmers or soldiers. We have a Collie instaed of some form of farm animal like a mule for a mascot. We use gig em for the Frogs. NO wonder new army is confused.

I just want to kick their azzes

When we play the sips I prefer the finger over horns down or gig em. They dont like that either so who cares with making them happy.

Hey, part of going to A&M is being confused by all the traditions, having multiple explanations for each thing we do, or did, or used to do, or should be doing............................................................................................................................................................................................and then faithfully doing it anyway!

Good God almighty...quit whining about the horns down. In case you didn't notice they are our hated rival. We do not like them. Quit being a pus and embrace the hate. Friggin pansies.

I went to the games in the 80s and we gave the "horns down" back then.

It does make us look unoriginal and obsessed with tu. I've been going to games for over 20 years and this seems to be something picked up in the last 10? We were more proud of ourselves back then...not our rivals?

No we didn't.

Yes we did...i did it. The reason it's more popular now...because Texas has worked hard to brand their school around the hand sign. So other schools work to re-brand the horn's brand.

It's silly to worry about.

Maybe the hatred goes back even farther. Julius Ceasar at times would give the thumbs up. Then he would turn right around and give the thumbs down. I hate bandwagon fans.

I hate it. It makes us look like copy cats and like we aren't proud enough of our own sign.

My sips friends (if that isn't an oxymoron) make fun of us for jumping on that bandwagon and say it just reinforces the stereotype that we are only concerned with beating them. Of course they could be saying this because it pisses them off, which would be good.

With all that being said we have changed so much that this seems trivial to get worked up about.

Horns down is lame. It is a Sooner thing.

I can't get my hands in that obscene gesture no matter which way it goes.

So many of our traditions just started without intentions of doing so. Most (if not all) just came about and weren't contrived just to keep up with some lesser school. We got the thumbs up gesture, and the others had to make an intentional decision to 'create' gesture of their own.

Doing the horns-down gesture and nothing else is LAME-O. Almost as lame as sporting saw-em-off decals on your car. Every now and then is one thing, but A&M already has a gesture. It's a nationally recognized slogan, SO DO IT. PUT YOUR DAMN THUMBS UP AND QUIT THINKING ABOUT THE HORNS ALL THE TIME!

You obviously never saw the original Wrecking Crew when we were dogstomping the sips in the mid 80s. They met at the QB and flashed horns down.

I think it's cool myself. Really pisses off the little boys and girls. We need to bring back the hate- forget this mutual admiration crap.

Gig'Em refers to giving fish "gigs", or demerits.

There was a particularly gruff sophomore that his buddies used to tell to "Gig" the fish.

Therefore, Gig'Em was born.

And get over yourselves with the thumbs down. It's a rivalry for goodness sake.
