I vote Boomer Sooner, but both songs are played ad nauseum over the course of any given game no matter if their team is ahead or behind.

i love boomer sooner, and wish we had a song like that here.

dont watch enough UT games, but i dont think it is possible to express in words my hatred for boomer sooner.

but let me try:

its been my understanding since i was a child that the word "hate" meant you condemned something to hell. That you had such disdain for something that you wished to never be exposed to it again for the rest of eternity and wished it to suffer in the fires of damnation.

even though this is not the general connotation assigned this word in modern society, i feel that in this case, it is an apt application.

I'm a fan of Rocky Top after being at a basketball regional several years ago and hearing their fans sing it acapella(sp?)coming out of commercial breaks.

But then again, I don't have to hear it over and over as a fan of an opposing team.

I hate Tennessee, but after watching the OU/OSU game, the sheer volume of Boomer Sooner is much worse than Rocky Top.

OU's band plays that song after just about every single play.

Rocky Top is annoying, but I am positive Boomer Sooner is played much more.

you'll literally hear boomer sooner 60-70 times per game in a game where OU puts up 30 pts.

it really wears you down after a little while.

Plus, at least Rocky Top is a song, with lyrics.

Don't any of you remember the '05 Cotton Bowl? The UT band never took more than a 30 second break the whole game. I think it brainwashed me to associate Rocky Top with Fran suckage. Give me Boomer Sooner any day.

Rocky Top - if you went to the Cotton Bowl with the team a few years ago, you know how annoying it can be.

I'm also getting tired of hearing techs thing that they play every 2 seconds where they hold that obnoxious last note until just before the snap.

Its ok if you hear it once or twice but they play it about 100 times a game and its a stupid song.

SMU's was the worst. In the 60's opposing bands could play while the other team had the ball as long as they turned down the volume a little during the snap. SMU would play Farina, I think it is, for FOUR hours. Oh, God, the humanity!!!!

(I don't know if that was legal to play like that, or just allowed if it wasn't too disruptive. It seems like it was several years later that the refs started calling a penalty on the bands, so I think the rule changed somewhere along the line. Some of you rules dweebs probably know.)

Col. Adams never wanted to play while the other band played, but against SMU he played a LOT. At least we didn't have to hear SMU's crap while we were playing.

And, sadly, we lost to them a lot, too.
