In the midst of people finding good spots in our game today, I want to point out our most consistently good player, Justin Brantley.

Brantley is a freaking weapon. Not only does he have a super-strong leg that can boot the ball 60+ yards when it chooses to, but the kid knows how to pinpoint his kicks to put the opposing team in a rough spot to start a possession.

He's got Lechler-like strength with Feagles-like accuracy, and he deserves his own thread on TexAgs.

Brantley for Heisman. I'm really going to push his campaign.

that idea is so tired...
again, if any fan speaks of their teams punter then the team itself is in trouble.
example tamu last ten years.

I like that PUNT ING CREW, HEY speaking of I just came up with what should be our new offensive game plan, as soon as we get the ball Brantly punts it straight to a defenders head and we recover the muffed punt for positive yards, I mean instead of wasting 3 downs when we're just gonna punt it anyways why don't we utilize our only legitimate All American candidate.

I beg to differ... He has had some really bad punts in crutial situations. Holiday bowl, army game etc.

After we failed to convert the 3rd down the first time, I heard somebody yell "bring out the All-American."

My advice for Brantly is he needs to sacrifice distance and increase hangtime because he outkicks his coverage. 60 yard kicks with 20 yard nets aren't good. Brantly will make a great NFL punter, but right now he doesn't have enough speed and good tackling on his coverage team. That is not his fault, but he needs to make the adjustment and get more height on his kicks.

When did we become Baylor where our best player is out punter?

At least two line drives last week and one or two yesterday cost us dearly - 44 yard runback on one yesterday. You just can't do that!

Brantley did great yesterday.

And unless you are a team that scores on every possession (who does that?), you should not be ashamed to have an outstanding punter.

Justin is my favorite player and I've followed him very closely since his freshman season.

He is very good and has refined his game a little bit each year. He has always had a big leg and early in his career he would outpunt his defense but that is something that he has really focused on, and has improved, in the last couple of off-seasons. He could punt just about every punt 50+ yards if he had the coverage to defend it.

This season his finesse inside the 15 yard line has been, in my mind, his biggest improvement and he has done an exceptional job. He has punted 13 times this year and has pinned 5 of them inside the 15 (three inside the 10....one inside the 5).

Just because he is a punter it doesn't mean he can't do well or even be one of the best in the nation....or that we can't root for him.

I've never seen a situation where it hurts to have one of the best doing it for your team.
