What percentage of the Aggie faithful has wised up to trading the name for over $3 million a year? Money that could be used to hire a Bob Davie and upgrade football players facilities to aid in recruiting.

i would rather pay 15 more dollars a ticket... and 8 bucks for a slovacek.

No Aggie in their right mind would sell the name. Its actually the most ridiculous thing Ive ever heard

So it only cost $650 to get a stadium named after you 100 years ago. How many millions now? Danged inflation.

BOOOOOOOOOOOO!

How about instead, we aggies start donating more. DUH!
Buy Season Tickets
and Donate more to the university.

It is after all Tax Deductable.

When I was in School TAMU had the 3rd highest rate of Alumni Donations in the Nation. I dont know what the rank is now but I know Toooo many Ags that dont give back to the School.

Which might I add is interesting When you consider this:
TAMU is Ranked 3rd best education per dollar spent in the Nation and when my sister was in school 60% of the students were there on Student Loans or other types of financial aid.

So here's how I look at it, TAMU has managed to give us a high quality Education that would cost 2-3x as much else where, They gave us the Aggie Network and helped us develop into the people we are. WHY in the world wouldnt we want to give back to the university that gave a bunch of Poor kids a chance at a better life.

I give Every year what I can. It started out minimally and as I move up in my career it's more. Selling out is not Aggie Style.

I agree with some of the above posters that not everything is for sale - Kyle Field being one of them.

Was that $15 per game or $15 for the entire season? And would you be willing to pay that amount for those who would sell the name for money? When you say most ridiculous thing you have ever heard, you never heard of another school selling the name to a sports facility?

1.I'm all for the best assts., but that will cost even more money to get them and then to keep them. The top coordinators in college ball make around $650,000 - we pay about $350,000. Can I count on you to write the check for the difference?

2.The Bright Center is almost 5 years old. And it wasn't built with all the best of the bests even when it was brand new. I could spend millions a year more on football players facilities than what we are currently spending, this would be a huge enticement to recruits. Will you write the annual check, please?

So which is it - we are giving what we can or we need to start donating more? It's always interesting to me that everyone says they are donating what they can, but that other Aggies need to donate more.

So this is something done only by pro teams? There is a long list - check out OU's football field or Ohio St basketball arena or tu's newly refurbished baseball park. If it was renamed Bright Field, would you slit your wrists at the gate entrance? And if so, would you youtube it for me, please?

What if it meant we would win a couple national championships? Would it be worth it then? I think it might, depending on who would buy the rights.

FYI:
In the fall of 1904, Edwin Jackson Kyle, an 1899 graduate of Texas A&M and professor of horticulture, was named president of the General Athletics Association. Kyle wanted to secure and develop an athletic field to promote the school's athletics. Texas A&M was unwilling to provide funds, so Kyle fenced off a section of the southeast corner of campus that had been assigned to him for agricultural use.[4] Using $650 of his own money, he purchased a covered grandstand from the Bryan fairgrounds and built wooden bleachers to raise the seating capacity to 500 people.[5][6]

On November 10, 1904, the Texas A&M Board of Directors set this area as a permanent athletic field,[7] which served as the home for the football and baseball teams. After the stands were built, students supported naming the field after its founder and builder.[8] Although some believe that the field was instead named after Dr. J. Allen Kyle, a member of the Board of Directors from 1911-1915, the Board of Directors decreed that Kyle Field was in fact named for E.J. Kyle '99.[9]

After the first World War, the stadium was dedicated as a living memorial to the Aggies who died in the war. On game days 55 American flags, one for each Aggie killed, fly around the highest points of the stadium.[10] In 1921, the November game between the Aggies and their archrival the University of Texas at Kyle Field became the first college football game to offer a live, play-by-play broadcast.[11]

Nuff said!

My understanding is that FSU OC Jimbo Fisher makes that.

There's more player facilities than just an indoor practice facility. But I've heard complaints about the look of the indoor practice facility (looks like an airplane hanger, etc) that more money could have cured.

quote:
In a press release on December 10, 2007 Jimbo Fisher was named the eventual successor for the legendary coach Bobby Bowden, although Bowden has not yet announced a retirement date. This new contract will pay Fisher about $600,000 per year with a $2.5 million buy out clause. Fisher had been listed as the top choice for head coach at a few schools in late 2007, most notably West Virginia University, but Fisher said he will be staying at Florida State University.

i can definitely see them wanting to pay him that much to keep their new head coach just hanging around.
