Fran, holding a hand up to McGee as if to have SM wait for Fran to give him the green light for starting a play or breaking the huddle (the camera was isolated on Fran). I guess he was attempting to manage the game clock from the sideline. Fran finally gives the go ahead....

Yep, I thought that was very strange.

The only reason I saw for that was that Fran's theory is you can only run the smoke draw sucessfully when you have a 3rd and 15, thus we had to have a 5 yard penality. All part of the game planning.
