I've read about the Russian Revolution, but am looking for post 1917 information. I've read the Gulag Archipelago. I've read the Venona Secrets and other espionage books. But any recommendations on more general fare?

Wasn't Dr Betty Unterberger a Russia/Soviet expert ? I had her for history back in the day.

Many years ago, I enjoyed reading Breaking with Moscow by Arkady Shevchenko. Looks like it's out-of-print, but should be able to be picked up used somewhere/somehow (Amazon, ebay, etc).

Gulag by Anne Applebaum

Fiction but worth reading:

Darkness at Noon by Koestler
A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
