It's a great tool.
I spent several years trolling through the online catalogs looking for images.

Here are two more for general Texas stuff:

Perry-Castañeda Library

UTSA Digital Collections

Jugstore Cowboy

It's great for searching community newspaper archives that aren't on the local public library site or newspapers.com. Some photos too. Being able to search by county or resource type is a great feature.

I found newspapers from Celina and McKinney covering the death of my great grandfather and grand-uncle in a family home fire. I'd always heard the story but I always wanted to verify that the story was as told. The newspapers did that. Very cool resource.

My family owned a farm near Rhea Mills and did well because they had two cars and a two-story house. The house caught fire and my grandfather and his brother were asleep upstairs. My grandfather jumped down but his brother was trying to save something and could not escape. My great-grandfather went in after him and was burned badly. My 14-year-old grandfather loaded his dad in the truck and attempted to drive to town but ran out of gas on the way there.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

Very much so....

The Perry-Castaneda Link is very, very bad... Historic USGS Maps... Just write off half a day for me if I go there.

Civil War photos.... Library of Congress... The worst... days upon days... Damn you Gary Adelman...
