Spectators are lining both sides of the street as the procession travels down Main Street. A&M Cadets are marching in lines of six. They are passing the Milner Hotel, A. Davis Company, and the Texas Coffee Shop.

Just think, we were marching those same streets, in similar class A winter uniforms, 42 years later.

The reason this "road" looks off is that it's a former airfield, closed at the end of the war. it's just south of modern DFW. Most of it became Amon Carter Blvd. You can just see the northern end of it on google maps.

The airfield was still open in the late 1960's and early 1970's…..Amon Carter field. I went to a number of air shows there in the 70's. The runway actually ran over a tunnel that went over what is now 183 (airport freeway). It was about the only road tunnel of any real length in DFW area at the time. My dad would honk his horn when we entered and everyone else would join in on the fun and the honking sounded pretty neat in that tunnel. I don't think Amon Carter blvd came into existence until we'll after the DFW airport was built….I'm thinking it was built in the early 90's. We used off road and squirrel hunt all over that trinity river strip between the turnpike and Amon Carter field.

ETA: the construction you see in the picture is highway 360.
