Caldwell was a fairly famous Scottish Communist who liked to criticize American involvement in Southeast Asia but apparently threatened to also criticize Pol Pot while visiting Cambodia.
All I had ever heard was that the Vietnamese had probably killed him.

Pol Pot went from local cadre to the kingpin that even the rest of the Communists in the world hated and feared. Guy was a lunatic.
