A skirmish near modern-day Georgetown uncovered a plot to end the nascent Republic of Texas and led to the Cherokee War

Another interesting battle is Brushy Creek fought near Taylor in February of 1839. The last skirmish with the Comanches in Williamson County. Couple of things that make it interesting was it was fought in a driving snowstorm and Jacob Burleson the brother of the commander Edward Burleson (who became 3rd VP of Texas) was killed and mutilated at the battle.

Thank you for this! I'll pass this on to the team at The Texan to possibly write on in the future.
