I'm looking for a book about the Texas Revolution that does a decent job explaining the conflicts within Mexico that Santa Anna was dealing with at the time as well.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

I haven't read it, but The Eagle and The Raven might be what you're looking for. It's a dual biography on Santa Anna and Sam Houston leading up to their meeting at San Jacinto.

This is probably more than you want. Fehrenbach's history of Mexico called Fire and Blood does a very good job of explaining all the political nuances to Mexico during its entire history. Suffice to say it never was a cohesive country. It is a good read.

I appreciate it. I like his other stuff, so I'll give it a read.

Thanks to both of you.
