even if caught not a damn thing will be done. we have marginalized what used to be called petty crime to such an extent that low life scum know that it is open season on civilized society.

Interesting point from the comments...

Quote:

Vandals? Yes, but not kids out bent on destruction. Scuttling a submarine is not an easy task, this was done by persons who knew exactly what hatches to open, what valves to turn; whomever did this had knowledge or were directed by someone with knowledge of how to scuttle. The USS LING has been moored in the same place for many years and never been targeted by vandals so the question is: who and why? The now-empty nearby Record newspaper building has been sold along with all the property between River Street and the Hackensack River south to Court Street, the diner next-door to the museum has also been served with eviction. The property owner is eager to build a few hundred units apartment complex and has been publicly annoyed the museum has yet to find a new home for itself and the LING. Suspicion should be first and foremost on the property owner/contractor who served the eviction.
