If you were the telegraph operator on the Californian would you have kept insisting the Titanic stop for the night. Even after Jack Phillips insulted you? Or would you too have shut down for the night. Discuss

Probably done the same thing. With hindsight being what it is, of course this seems coarse and harsh but hey, Phillips was being a dick. I did my job, he's obviously more keen on sending the modern day equivalent of text messages for the well off to their friends in the states.

Of course I would have had the same attitude that the Titanic was unsinkable as just about everyone else did and would assume they could see the hazards on their own.
