Because of the lack of oxygen at the icy depths of the Black Sea more than 40 shipwrecks spanning from the Byzantine to the Ottoman empires have been discovered off the Bulgarian coast in remarkably preserved condition. The overall article is an interesting read, Texas A&M even gets a mention.

Amazing! The medieval world (and the ancient) was much more sophisticated in terms of trade than many think. Just a few weeks ago there was an article about how the Greeks travelled to China & made the terracotta army for them.

I'd like for these ships to find some jars of Greek Fire....
