During critical June 1944 hedgerow fighting in Normandy, an American Army Sergeant Curtis Culin took a hint from a Tennessee hillbilly fellow soldier to put teeth onto a tank.

The Culin "RHINO" or Culin Headgerow Cutter saved many lives.

"Sgt. Culin's contribution to success in the Normandy breakout reflected Yankee Ingenuity at its best." General Dwight Eisenhower

The Bocage is crazy there...also the advent of the phone on the back of the tank that allowed the dismounted infantryman squad leader to communicate directly with the tank crew/gunner worked wonders and helped to establish combined arms maneuver as we know it today.
