Thought I'd get some answers today, and did, but am still left with a referral to a Neurologist.

I had some weird symptoms pop up about 4 and a 1/2 months ago.

Had heaviness in my legs (knee cap down but not into my feet) that resulted in some tingling. Then, about a couple weeks after that, had the same heaviness and tingling in my arms (from elbow down).

It's now to where I don't feel the heaviness but the occasional tightening around my shin and then at or near my wrist.

The weird tingling has turned to more sharp sparky feelings. I now get a sore throat feeling and tingling on my tongue occasionally.

I have had an MRI of my cervical and lumbar, and completed a nerve study today at a Neurosurgeon's office (waited about 6 weeks for this testing). My condition doesn't require surgery. The nerve test came back normal.

Now that I'm driving back, the areas where I was poked have the sparky (like an ember hitting your back) feeling.

Have some balance and coordination issues. Not to where I'm falling over, but definite missteps and mishandling of keys / toothbrush.

I'm not expecting some miracle, but I am hopeful that someone within this network can give me some guidance or recommendations of Neurologists. The one I've been referred to has a first appointment date into April 2025.

I'm about to welcome my 4th child into this world, have sought counseling, started working out again (mainly to see how these ailments react to it), am finding the good in life as much as I can; however, the not knowing is taking a toll.

Hence, I'm on a public forum airing these issues out.

Don't have any suggestions other then to offer some encouragement to stay persistent with the doctors. It took my wife over a year to finally get diagnosed with MS. Doctors suggested her issues ranged from diabetes to a b12 deficiency. MRIs and a spinal tap finally confirmed her root cause

My experience with neurology is that most of the time they might diagnose you but no treatment is available or it goes away on its own. I had crazy weird symptoms years ago. I had every test imaginable. They suspected lupus or sjogrens. Then a few months later with hard exercise it all went alway.

I'm assuming you had metabolic blood work and normal calcium, sodium, potassium levels.

Concerning for a neuropathy of some kind like MS. Just to try I would start using the YUKA app to cut all extra chemicals from your diet just to try and cut down on generalized inflammation that these treated foods trigger in some folks.

Neurology is the right way to go for sure, I don't have any help with specific neuro docs for adults unfortunately.

What city are you in?

Got a few more steps completed in the last 24 hours+.

Got bloodwork for Vitamin deficiencies ordered (B12, Folates), food allergies, A1c, and copper.

Had a brain MRI ordered.

These were done through a teledoc Neurologist. Figured it wouldn't hurt to discuss with them, if I could. Didn't realize they could order the tests, so raised the spirits a bit.

Got on the schedule with a General Neurologist in Sugarland for late February. Still sooner than April, so I'll take it.


I live about an hour South of Austin, so going to be a hike whether the doc is in Austin, San Antonio, or Houston.
