Anyone else watching/watched this? It's on Netflix and done be the same people that did Drive to Survive. I'm only a few episodes in, but so far I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
I binged it when the wife was out of town last week and really enjoyed it. Just like Drive to Survive, I liked the focus on the stories within the Tour.
I will say, I wish they did give info/stats of power, speed, etc. during some of the race shots. But I also feel like that anytime I watch anything cycling related. Those guys are nuts.
About halfway through and enjoying it so far. Agree they try to make WvA a bad guy but I doubt he did any of that without some kind of team blessing or he wouldn't be on the team still. I do wish they would talk a little more about Sepp on the team as he's been a workhorse for JV.
Watched it while in the hospital after my crash (which is hopefully a sign I'll be back on the bike no problem). Generally enjoyed it.
I was shocked to hear that it was actually planned for WvA to go balls out on stage 17 (i think?), and the purposefully drop back to pick up and tow Vingegaard to the finish. The commentators and everyone else that day thought WvA and Jumbo had lost their minds when it was happening.
I wish they would have shown a bit more of the battle between Vingegaard and Pogacar. They had some clips of it in the early montages (such as Pogacar falling and Vingegaard waiting for him), but then hardly touched it later on.
I also thought it kind of made AG2R Citron look like a villain for pushing O'Connor....
I know you're hurt, I know you have torn muscles, but just ride these next couple days, 100+ miles up mountains, take a rest day and we'll reevaluate. lol Can you imagine if a coach or team pushed a player like that in most American sports?
That's the norm in the pros. It's ridiculous what pain they'll try to ride through. Problem is if they're not finishing, they're probably not getting their next contract. There aren't any riders unions to protect them.
As much as people hate on Lance Armstrong, he's been a proponent of a riders union for a long time. ASO has too much control over pro cycling and they'll never give up their power.
I really enjoyed it and have been recommending it to others because it does a good job of engaging the audience and promoting a lot of the underlying nuances in the sport that can be hard to pick up from just a telecast stream of cycling.
