Anybody in? Currently registered for the full, but might end up dropping down (although I hope not). How many people generally run?

Torn. Will probably run the half. There is a race in FL that I'd like to run that Sat. and I just haven't committed yet

60 days out. In for the half.

I'm not running it this year but have every other year (half and full). I will, however, be handing out shots of liquid encouragement at a couple points throughout the course this year. The after party is always a great time as well.

I have ran the BCS Half Marathon in 2014, 2015, and 2016, but I have not ran that race since. I'm not running the BCS Half Marathon this year either, but I will run the Austion Half Marathon on 2/19/23. In 2016, 1910 people ran the half marathon, and 940 ran the full marathon.

If you are torn, I would recommend running the half marathon. On 2/20/22, I ran the Austin Marathon in 3:55:21, and that was my first full marathon. Prior to that, I had ran 8 half marathons. From September 2021 to February 2022, I spent 5 months to train for a full marathon. I knew training for a full marathon would take much more time commitment than training for a half marathon.

Deferred my 2020 registration for the marathon to 2022. Undecided because I'm a little behind on training. I might skip it or try to switch to the Half, but will see how the next couple of long runs go first.

Oh I'm only torn because there is a race in FL that is 12/10.

I've run BCS 6x and its an outstanding event. Only reason I've not signed up is because I can't make up my mind on which race to run.

I'll be running the 10K at the BCS Oktoberfest this weekend. Tuning up for Houston Half 10K in a couple weeks.

Has BCS historically filled up for the half?

Not sure if it has ever sold out completely. If memory serves, it has a couple of times though.

In a year were people are just now getting back to real races & making up for 2020/21 deferrals, I wouldn't wait to sign up.

Officially re-registered for the Full marathon. Training is going ok but for a couple of aches that will hopefully remain minor and maybe subside during taper.

Do most out of town runners stay over Sunday night? I've done it before but not crazy about a 3 hour drive home afterward.

We are driving back, but the husband will be driving. I would stay Sunday night if it were just me.

I'd say most probably don't. I ran BCS marathon/half 4 or 5 times when we lived in Dallas but never stayed Sunday night.

Thanks for the replies, pretty sure I'll drive home Sunday.

Where is everyone going for their pre race dinner?

Flour tortillas and Gatorade at my kitchen table.

Looks like a fun race, but I think I'm gonna do the Santa Hustle in Galveston Half to get ready for Houston. One month out seems about right.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

In for the half - I've done it either 8 or 9 years. It's my favorite race - great size, fun running through campus, and awesome post race food and beers!

Maybe BJ's or Napa Flats. I like salmon and veggies the night before a race.

In for the half. Running it with my 12yo, it'll be his first half-marathon...going to pace him to break his goal of 2hrs.

Did the full a few years ago and it was a lot of fun.

Best I've gathered is that there's a good chance of rain Saturday night to Sunday morning. Hopefully it's more of a front that pushes through and we get the cooler air behind it. I saw some forecasts with light north winds so that should at least knock down some humidity. Most temps are low to mid 60s. A little warmer than ideal but far from terrible.

The cool temps of November were nice but just a tease...this could be pretty rough.

I just found out my friends kids (age 9 and 7) are running in the national youth cross country meet this weekend in BCS. I assume it's part of the race events.

In for the half.

I did an easy 6 this morning and was completely sweated out by mile 5. Those that are doing the full really need to focus on their hydration and sodium intake!

Best of luck to all!!

Congrats to all the finishers! Much warmer than last year but glad the rain passed and the front came through this morning!

Yeah... the storms overnight were intense. We're lucky enough to be staying at the Stella which is right at mile 13, so after we wished the wife well and watch her start, we came out to mile 13 and cheered for just about everyone from 3:30 pace to the very end (though I just cut it short and probably missed a few of the tail runners). Off to the finish line!

Ran the full in 3:45:48, a small PR and surprisingly good enough for 3rd in my old guy AG.
Appreciated the crowd support and the great race staff and volunteers. Weather was tough but could have been much worse.

I finished at 4:49 and some change. Finished a few minutes faster than Chicago. I would have liked to have been at 4:45 but not too shabby after a 40 mile trail race last weekend.

Huh. Well I apparently saw you then without knowing it. I was right at the corner into the small out and back at mile 13.

Well done!

My 12yo kid just finished his first half with me. He just missed his ultimate goal of 2hrs by 8 seconds lol. If it were 10 degrees cooler he would have had it with time to spare. Super proud of him and we'll hit that goal next time. Great race, super impressed on how well this event was run.

Thanks, I'm sure I heard you if I didn't see you, and congrats to aggiespartan!

Most notable things about that part of the course: what is that tower thing right by the hotel(?), and thank you to the aid station volunteers offering vaseline, as I foolishly forgot to apply nipple band-aids this morning.
