Researchers at the Johns Hopkins University are seeking individuals with depression who also drink alcohol regularly to participate in a research study looking at the effects of psilocybin, a psychoactive substance found in naturally occurring mushrooms. The study will investigate psychological effects of psilocybin, including whether or not it can help with depression and drinking.

The results pouring out of these clinical studies have been absolutely off the charts.

I switched to drinking more Athletic Brewing and other NA beers to cut back on alcohol during the week.
For some reason, I didn't think "oh, maybe I should do 'shrooms instead?" Silly me.

Don't worry. The access to them is quickly changing so it won't be such an absurd idea.

Considering the 12step founder wanted to include LSD for the mystical experience preceding his own recovery, psychedelics are definitely a much less cost prohibitive route to recovery.

If you haven't paid any attention to it, addiction counseling and retreats are a multi-BILLION dollar industry with exceptionally poor outcomes per capita.

Meanwhile a free cow patty mushroom provides an addiction-free outcome at an 70-80% rate*... absolutely absurd.

*CBT-Therapy is a gold standard practice for best outcomes post-trip.

Anecdotally, the few Texaggers who took some of the microdose psilocin products I sent out reduced their drinking almost completely... among other benefits.

It floors me everytime.

Interesting...how do I get these or is it only by joining a study?

The study is definitely one of the best methods with high standards and controls in place and my understanding is there's some therapy associated as well.

Well, there's a few jurisdictions that have decriminalized, like Denver

Oregon is pursuing a legal aspect and is going through the details currently last I check.

Colorado will have legal and decrim bills to vote on in November.

The specific microdose tablets aren't being made again until after CO decides. But I have access to some of the higher doses that you can split up if that's what you meant.

Regardless of your pursuit, I'd highly recommend reading up on set and setting and intent regarding psychedelics.

You're too busy tripping on shrooms to care?

Personally, wouldn't recommend tripping on psilocin on GameDay.

Battered aggie syndrome is more likely to cause a challenging trip.

Also, taking a large dose resolves most issues and doesn't demand the same dopaminergic reward response (addiction) that alcohol or other habitual substances like cigarettes or opioids...

It also changes the way you process social stigmas (like not drinking in public with everyone else) so less demand from all angles, at least from what I've read.

The night before my daughter's 8th birthday I couldn't sleep and had a mental talk with Jesus about my daily beer drinking. It wasn't a prayer for help so much as me acknowledging all the negative impacts it had on my health. A switch flipped and though I have an urge from time to time they've been managed.

That was me either side of 11am the morning of 2/26/91. I asked the for Devine Intervention, and I haven't had a drink since.

That's awesome guys! For many/most it doesn't seem to work as effectively and there's also a touch if "I give myself to you lord" at play.

This is similar the "mystical experience" sought when treating addiction with psychedelics. An experience with the depths of the unknown and/or the divine allows one to recalibrate their behaviors, depending on approach.

What you two have done is unfortunately rare and requires tremendous fortitude and faith.... both seemingly rare in today's societies.

Just wanted to add this quote from researcher Dr Barnett:
Quote:

Psychedelic drugs may serve no higher purpose than to direct our attention and efforts to better care for ourselves, each other, and the natural world. A narrow focus on the drugs themselves may be misleading at best and severely detrimental at worst.

My buddy works with Jake Plummer developing UMBO in Colorado (functional mushroom products). He gave me some pulverized psilo caps for micro dosing. My old ladies from A&M came to visit and we decided to give micro dosing a shot. Apparently 600 mg each is not microdosing. We ended up on the mountain by my house singing Sublime songs until 1 am. My buddies from CO swear by the micro dose, though. Helped at least one through alcohol recovery.
Life's an endless party, not a punch card.
