I'd be itching to try that shirt if I was still competing.

1302* according to Instagram caption. But yeah that's absolutely nuts.
I'm firmly Team Raw but acknowledge the work it takes to lift with a shirt.Hoosegow said:
They were just starting to use shirts that had elastic material when I quit - bench daddy, sling shot, etc. Though I haven't seen it, this one looks like a combination of the traditional shirt and an elastic shirt.
Don't knock the shirt. It is like using nitrous in funny cars. As long as the gear is approved with the federation, it's all good. Learning how to use gear was the hardest thing I ever did and every time you get a new piece of gear, you have to learn it. No matter what, the gear doesn't move the weight.
My bench would go to 865...with some more training.ttha_aggie_09 said:
I know the bench shirts help but only lifting 600lbs raw seems incredibly low. If that's accurate I need to get a bench shirt and try 1000lbs…
I'm thinking the last time he lifted raw he did 600 lbs.ttha_aggie_09 said:

As long as you can bench 135, you're only this bench shirt away from 3 platesSea Speed said:
i just want to get 315.
Stop thinking about the number and just put in the work and you'll hit the goal.Sea Speed said:

I think the secret to the Texas method is all of the squats, it supercharges your ability to put on lean mass. It is one of the reasons Starting Strength and Stronglift both contain a lot of squat volume, it is a quick way to put one some mass and see some results. Quick results encourage people early and get them addicted to working out.Sea Speed said:
I've done Texas method and candito programs and for whatever reason I just can't get over this 265 hump. Maybe I'll go with your rec when I finish my current program.
I don't think that article exactly underlines the point you're making here. Yeah, he became big and lifted huge amounts of weight, he also became too big and unhealthy to point where his friends were telling him he was going to die.Hoosegow said:
You want to get strong? Eat. If you aren't gaining strength or muscle... eat some more. Training is secondary. If you want a bigger bench, train your bench like a powerlifter. And eat. And I bet your form isn't very good. Probably not bad for your average gym goer, but benching is actually pretty technical if you want a good bench. But I digress. Eat.
